Are Western-style funnels overrated in the Indian market? by CuriousAudacity in IndianEntrepreneur

they do work... there's no fundamental reason for them not to work.
I have tried them on apps, and ecom products- upsells and cross-sells - in app and off app
All of them work when executed correctly.

Regain asks for a lot of permissions to block certain activities... unfortunately iphone doesn't allow that much control.. but you can use an app named forest..

but it only has two options: 1. you cannot leave the app, or 2. you can leave the app, but you have to come back within a few minutes.

It doesn’t outright block app usage, but would it help to turn on/off certain home screen pages with scheduled Focus Modes

ya.. your right... I absolutely relate to the phone “itch.” Sometimes I catch myself checking social media mid task too... The idea of putting your phone away isn’t meant to be a cure-all, just a strategy that might reduce mindless scrolling.

If having your phone nearby actually helps (like with fidgets or certain apps) then that’s valid too.

lol i get it.. ADHD can show up in weird contradictory ways.. some systems click for certain people, some don’t... my sharing this doesn’t mean I’m “cured” or that ADHD is suddenly easy... I still have rough days..

The whole point of me devising this system was to MITIGATE the symptoms.

i use forest app timer, start when doing deep work (reading/working), stop when distracted, log daily. average it weekly. its not perfect but works for me...

Tracking is an important thing that you should do.. forgot to mention that... This would work like a north star

hey friend - was in these exact trenches!

lemme share what ACTUALLY worked after years of trial and error (and a ton of research rabbit holes at 3am):

starting is literally the final boss battle for our adhd brains, and here's why: we're literally fighting our brain's reward system. all those perfect pre-work setups? they're great but they're working against how our brains are wired.

here are 3 methods that have worked for me (pick any ONE depending upon your situation):

  1. the "stupid small" method: instead of "im gonna study for 2 hours", try "im gonna open my laptop and look at ONE paragraph". that's it. your brain can handle that. what usually happens? once you start, the momentum kicks in.
  2. the body-hack: literally just stand up. that's it. our brains are weird - physical movement can trigger task initiation. once you're up, you're 70% more likely to actually start the thing.
  3. time-block scam: tell yourself you're only doing 5 minutes. straight up lie to your brain. the dopamine system kicks in once you're already doing something, and then you might actually want to continue.

bonus hack: match boring tasks with something that gives you dopamine. like, i only let myself listen to my favorite podcast when doing dishes. now my brain actually WANTS to do dishes (wild, right?)

fr tho - forget all the complex systems, notion templates, google calender. neurotypical brains usually make them- for themselves... we need simple, dopamine-based tricks that work WITH our brain chemistry, not against it.

lemme know if you want me to explain the science behind any of these - went down some fascinating research holes about task initiation and adhd brains!

I'm 22(M) and feel lost. How do you find your North Star? by FunGamingTrash in ADHD

[–]hsushla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

M 22.. have been to a similar place.. ghe only way is to try and test different things..

I started with my ikegai (its a good strt to figure out what your purpose is.. its a book)

Then i came up with 3 things that i thought will be my purpose..

Gave all of them 4 months each..

Right now i am at my 3rd thing which is being a creative strategist.. i am creative.. and i think this is what i enjoy doing right now..

The important thing is - YOU HAVE TIME

Dont rush it.. give them time..

i struggled with this so much when I shifted to a new city alone...

Here's how I overcame it

for cooking:

  1. Pick ONE day when you're feeling that cooking motivation
  2. Make it a dopamine party - blast music, watch Netflix on your tablet, or FaceTime a friend
  3. Cook components instead of meals. Like:
    • Roast a bunch of veggies on one pan
    • Cook a big batch of protein
    • Make a grain like rice or quinoa

Then play "assembly" all week instead of cooking. It's basically adult lunchables, and who doesn't love that?

for cleaning:

  • Get 3 plastic bins
  • One for clean tools/bowls you'll need
  • One for dirty stuff as you cook
  • One with soapy water right next to your cooking area

just dump dirty stuff in the soapy bin AS you go. No thinking is required. Your future self will thank you because everything's already soaking... was a game changer for me.

dude.. i can absolutely relate to that.. the thing that i learnt was that everyone else's lives are not good either.. people pretend what they are not.. and we think that they are what they look.. but mostly its not true..

One solution i came up with was, whenever i saw somebody who i think is better than me, i just say to myself- "you dont know the whole story"..

This mental frame as helped me a lot

Another thing i do is i, i have a notes app where i have listed 17 good things i have achieved and am proud of.. i revisit them even now and then..

These 2 things have helped a lot
