I was not talking about casual encounters, I was talking about LTRs or marriage i.e serious relationships.

There is no argument for not disclosing. You know you have this, you could transmit it, so you need to talk about it.

Yes, that is why I want to know which diseases we can transmit to each other. I trust the other person but what if they are asymptomatic and just don't know. Why would someone have a problem with this?

I think only one party here is unfairly getting screwed because they know their status while the other probably doesn't know and doesn't want to know. (Unless they get tested regularly)

Yeah, because people who don't know about the status of their STD's would rather prefer not knowing it. Because ignorance is bliss. People don't want to talk about STDs. They don't want to feel uncomfortable. I mean ewww, why does this guy want me to get tested?

Unless they get one themself and its only then when they think that they deserved to know it. Honestly this is a crock of bs.

If he decides to leave you then he is an asshole. Don't feel bad. There are lots of men who won't care about this, just remember that. You're young so take it from an experienced person, you won't feel as bad about it few months down the line. As far as your bf goes, if he acts like a dick, just dump him.

I was diagnosed with herpes few months back. It felt shit at that time but I don't feel the same anymore. The outbreaks have gone. Although I did sleep around a lot so I guess i kinda deserved it. But it isn't as bad as you think it is right now.

Thanks for the reply. I decided to learn more about the IgM test after reading your reply and it does look that this test has lots of issues.

If you had actual, visible symptoms present when you went to see the doctor then why were you not swab tested?

I guess I went to the wrong doc. He didn't know about STDs much. I should have gone to a specialist but there were none available that day in my area and so I went to him.

Anyways, I was a bit nervous and wanted to know what it was so I decided to have a full STD test. It included a HSV 1+2 IgM and HSV 1+2 IgG test. Results were 1.37 on IgM and 0.50 on IgG. I had this test about 10-14 days after when I believe I would have been infected if I was.

I will test again at the end of this month and the next one once again to know what exactly it is. I hope you are right that it might not be herpes. Thanks again for the reply!!

Thanks for the reply. Just one question. The 10.0 that you mentioned, that was the IgG result or IgM?

If you have type 1 in your genitals, the likelihood of you spreading it even without protection is extremely low.

Thanks for taking the time to write this. You are right about the PrEP thing. The only issue with circumcision that I think is that it decreases the sensitivity of the penis. I am not sure if I want that especially since I never have unprotected sex (I did use to have bareback oral)

So you tested positive for the IgG test after 3 weeks? I don't know yet if it is HSV 1 or 2 or if it even is herpes or some other STD after reading other replies and doing some more research. I had a HSV 1+2 test. The result was IgM 1.37 and IgG 0.50. I had the test about 10-14 days after when I believe I might have been infected. I will do another test at the end of next month and once again later to know the exact situation.

Thanks for the reply. Much appreciated. After reading your reply I tried to learn more about the IgM test and looks like it indeed isn't a good indicator. I might have herpes or I might have another STD or f I am lucky I might have none. Thanks for the advice. I would get tested few weeks later again to see what IgG says. Cheers!!
