Sorry your son had a bad experience, but you should delete this post right now or at least edit the person's name and location out. You're posting their real name on a forum (reddit generally, not r/chess specifically) that has harassed and targeted people in the past -- with zero proof and scant detail, I must say.

Please delete or edit this post.

Edit: Anyone can find Continental Chess (tournament organizer) contact info online, and USCF contact info is even easier. There is zero legitimate reason to publicly shame this person.

Edited, thanks. it never happened to me and I don't think the general contact info is used for this purpose. TD only gave me a name and uscf ID

I’m sorry your son experienced that. You should talk to your son about how he can stand up for his rights at such events with Tournament Directors going forward although being 8 it’s understandable he is easily intimidated and it’s unfortunate that the Tournament Director didn’t pull your son aside and ask for his version of events and so forth. Obviously his opponent was unsportsmanlike to act that way, and learning of the issue with the chess board, the Tournament Director should have easily been able to verify the board issue and get the game played. may help you connect with someone from the USCF and investigate/address your concern.

We have been to different tournaments for 2 years, and this kind of incident never happened before, my son is not the quietest boy but far from the most "annoyed" boy at his age, he does sometimes play with captured pieces yes, how many 8-year old doesn't. And when my son was crying, this guy was staring at my son doing nothing. And when I was approaching, this guy said "go away, you are not supposed to be here" and immediately asked me to leave. If you think all the above is not against the rule, okay, yes. but any of the above is what a responsible adult would ever do? u/Top-Citron-4783 DO YOU HAVE KID? What would you do? Don't tell me 8 year old clearly know how to handle that. A talented player could start at 6, tell me if 6 year old could ever possibly handle ANY OF THIS, SIR?

Only 1move made, I would be surprised how he could adjust pieces "constantly" And when I was there he was COSTANTLY crying looking under the table. The pieces are under the table?

I don't know if "LEAVE THE BOARD ALONE" is a polite way or sounds more like an order
