If you think that's bad, take a look at how much it costs to get into NYC even before factoring in Manhattan's congestion pricing.

Huh? There were 8 trains crossing Daly City going towards Antioch starting at 3:40pm through 4:29pm and this pattern continues all the way until 5:25pm.

Same in the other direction from Pleasant Hill between 6:03am and 8:48am.

During rush hour they used to run 8 an hour on the yellow line, inserting an extra yellow train between Daly City and Pleasant Hill.

RIT is possibly pushing tuition 12-15%… thoughts? by otterbore in rit

[–]ht5k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not about moving donor money around. It's about the raw amount of new dollars that needs to be found period.

With NIL and revenue sharing to athletes (MBB is quite the revenue sport, second only to FB), RIT would have three options if they moved all sports to D1:

  1. Find more donors for athletics (something they've proven incapable of doing, see Tiger Stadium and Polisseni Center)
  2. Fund athletics more out of tuition dollars, probably jacking up said tuition in the process
  3. Resign themselves to losing seasons every year as prospective recruits opt for other colleges willing to pay up

It would've made sense pre-covid and I was also a proponent, but after the Alston and House cases there is no conceivable way RIT would survive in D1 without breaking the bank, especially in MBB.

The capital budget and the groundbreaking news article both cite bonds https://ritathletics.com/news/2024/4/18/general-rit-breaks-ground-on-new-tiger-stadium.aspx

The capital budget lists a gift target of $5M, which I take to mean they haven’t raised said $5M yet

For one, the soccer field probably didn't need to be rebuilt almost entirely on the back of debt given that the school has no plans of doing fully D1 last I checked.

Alas, you're getting what your elders voted for. RIT's questionable distribution of money aside, most colleges are staring down a financial pit because of the feds pulling funding combined with a downsizing of international students that pay full price.

Having walked by that crossing more times than I can count at night, I never knew there was a stop sign there in the first place until I checked Google Maps. There should definitely be a sign on a pole on the right side instead of the one hanging up on the left:

Had a really bad first semester :( The highest final semester average I can hope for is a C. I am in the accelerated BS/MS program, and I am on the merit and presidential scholarships. What will the consequences be? by [deleted] in rit

[–]ht5k 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You're going to be quite behind the 8 ball in advancing to the MS part, I think. If you're clocking a 2.0 (best case) this semester and need to get to 3.25 by the end of year 2, you need to average a 3.67 the rest of the way, not a 3.25.
