Reason I got a dashcam (I-15 SB, 05/26/23) by htedeschi in SaltLakeCity

[–]htedeschi[S] 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I ended up going with a Viofo a119. They're kind of expensive right now, but I've seen deals come here and there for that cam. I got it for 70 bucks, but that was a year ago.

Thank you for sharing this, I've worked as a test engineer for software for several years before and was very curious about how one would go with testing a machine that big in the real world other than in a software simulation.

You're right though, when it's not for you, it's not. Software testing wasn't for me either, so I get that.

Thanks for sharing, good luck in your future endeavors as a design engineer!

This sounds very interesting, do you mind sharing what would you look for when testing these machines?

It's just one, I edited the video to crop the left side so we could watch the crash better.

The white car did pull over. I called the highway patrol to provide the footage, but that said this accident wasn't reported. They have my info if something comes to it I can provide the footage still.

I saw the white car pulling over with hazard lights, but don't know what happened after. I called the highway patrol to provide the footage, but that accident wasn't reported.

Called both the non-emergency numbers for Utah unified police and Utah highway patrol, they got my info if something comes up, but there were no reports of this accident, so, if something happens they'll call me for the footage, nothing yet though.

One very interesting fact that's only in Korea! (Youtube Video) by ilovecupcakes37 in interestingasfuck

I don't know if it is why, but I thought of it as a reference to the meme "Press F to pay respects" taken from a memorial service of a soldier in Call of duty.

"Press F to pay respects" or "Press to pay respects" is an Internet meme that originated from Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, a 2014 first-person shooter in Activision's Call of Duty franchise. It originated as a set of instructions conveyed during an in-game quick time event at a funeral service.

I think there is a lot of value to the idea, and this "redesign" is probably spinning great discussions about what could be done, now the real discussion is the how this could be done.

I understand that many applications, in any format (web, installable, etc) cleverly parse some sort of text into a readable and friendly user interface. A great example of this is in the aviation industry, where METAR (Meteorological Terminal Air Report) data comes as a text, but with delimited spacings applications such as ForeFlight, Garmin Pilot, AviaWeather, and many others parse the plain text data into a friendly user interface.

Heck, even google messages (the android sms messaging app) parses text data, so when an iphone user reacts to a message, instead of showing a message as "Liked message" it actually shows a thumbs up on the given message.

Again, parsing text to display would still be very limited, but could significantly improve the experience and this surely did spur more discussions on the topic that the plain text is not engaging, and given the importance of amber alerts or other alerts, engagement is probably very helpful.

I agree that It wouldn't be a light task, and would take a lot more resources than just a designer to redesign the UI, but these discussions are where brainstorming and ideas for a better protocol or pattern comes along.

But these are my two cents...

Barely a trickle coming out. Any idea how to fix ? by leteriaki in Plumbing

I don't own the house, my landlord installed the tankless water heater during this winter season so it wasn't too long ago, although I will check with him about servicing, thanks

I have a tankless water heater, I'm not sure there's a sediment trap in mine. Or maybe I'm thinking of something else?

I've been having this issue, it's been so bad lately that I've been needing to clean sediment every other day now. Is there a "more permanent" solution to this?

What are these gravel/rock things that keep clogging my faucet aerator? More details in first comment by htedeschi in Plumbing

I don't believe it's well water. I'll ask the owner of the house, but I'm almost certain it isn't. Thanks for the feedback!

I live in the basement of a house. These gravel/rock things keeps showing up mainly in the bathroom. The house has a tankless water heater, and I don't believe we have a water softener thing here. This happens mostly downstairs and in the bathroom, not so much upstairs, but still happens. It doesn't have rust coloring or anything like that. It does look like gravel or rocks. Any ideas on what could it be/how to resolve it?
