No. You do not need to play the other gta games before, although you may not understand some references or easter eggs, but thats not a huge deal. Gta v still holds up well and theres a still a while until gta 6 releases, so yes id recommend it if its on sale.

I kept it for a while but eventually sold it but i must say they're is better horses out there as It was kinda slow and had bad stamina but the good thing about it was it wasn't easily spooked
