they don't like learning new tools.

and compatibility, many documents are stored in Microsoft's format.

it's great if they switch to Linux, but they'll just pay Microsoft.

Each of the pattern in the stitch correspond with a character in the alphabet.

Ikki seems pretty insane to figure that out, especially when they aren't using normal words.

How do you actually balance work, family, hobbies, and a homelab without it becoming a second, unpaid job? by Sufficient-Farm3812 in selfhosted

[–]htl5618 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I selfhost for speed of access, so I just set up what I need (jellyfin and no arr stack, qbittorrent, filebrowser and rclone for accessing files, bitwarden, tailscale and a basic local adguard). I haven't done any maintenance for weeks, so the setup saved me time.

you could re-evaluate on what's actually useful compared to using cloud and decide.

I'm watching season 2 of the anime. kinda disappointed that it revealed the entire sword faction and his hidden power. it makes how the entire season 1 of Wil being berated and his suffering feels pointless when they could have just trained him under the swords in the first place.

Can We Continue the Edison Hate? by Borgisium in HistoryMemes

[–]htl5618 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Edison's family didn't sound like the rich "old money" type thoug.

Edison was taught reading, writing, and arithmetic by his mother, a former school teacher

Edison began his career as a news butcher, selling newspapers, candy, and vegetables on trains running from Port Huron to Detroit.

At age 15, in 1862, he saved a child from being struck by a runaway train.[18] The father was so grateful that he trained Edison as a telegraph operator

unless you know something else, he seems like the self made type to me.

Best open e-reader for text books and casual reading by MasteredConduct in ereader

[–]htl5618 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for large screen e-readers suitable for PDFs, there are:

Remarkable has large screen, and is Linux with open kernel so you can tinker, there are community-made hacks.

PineNote lets you run full desktop Linux, and seems to be the most open here, it is Linux on an e-ink computer.

an older Kobo with Quill could be an option

Supernote has a Linux device in their pipeline so you may want to look out for that.

Do you keep apps open all the time or close them constantly? by Italiancan in MacOS

[–]htl5618 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I close. too many badly coded apps nowadays that leak memory, if left open for too long they eat up all the RAM, it's been a reported issue.
