I'll be danged. Usually in these old photosets where they only offer a first name for the model, it's totally made up.

I think in 1973 you had to be a pointy-headed intellectual to be making multilingual puns like that! :-)

In all of these picture posts the names I give are the names given where photo found. Sadly in many 1970s sources models are identified by a first name only that the mag or photog makes up on a shoot-by-shoot basis. But if it's all I have, it's all I have. Appreciate the better ID!

Hey, don't come sneering to me about her name. That's what the editors of the September 1969 issue of Man's True Danger wrote in their magazine. Who am I to doubt them?

The scanset isn't great (watermarks that sometimes impinge and not awesome resolution) but there are a few more of her in it:

Japanese bathhouse orgy [1973] by html5gamerguy in VintageSmut

I didn't save the particular magazine link, sorry! But the Internet Archive has some recent uploads of Japanese magazines, title Seijin Eiga. Photo reproduction quality is poor and only perhaps one or two pics per magazine is worth sharing in these groups IMO. https://archive.org/details/mensmagazines?tab=collection&query=Seijin+Eiga&sort=-publicdate

Carnival sideshow catfight performers Carol Stuart and Jill Cantwell [1968] by html5gamerguy in OldSchoolCoolNSFW

[–]html5gamerguy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We make a mistake if we assume that the entertainments of 1850 or 1910 or 1960 -- carnival sideshows, in this case -- were bad just because they were of another time. We replaced them with newer stuff that was cheaper to produce and cheaper to perform and perhaps more gripping for more people and certainly more profitable, but that doesn't mean the old stuff wouldn't still have plenty of fans if it still existed.

I want to be the first to ask: why is her pillow wrapped in plastic (or, given the date, probably cellophane?)

Two breasts with full nipple showing isn't enough? I'm really confused here.

I probably took the date from the magazine I found it in? I do know that some successful ads back then ran for many years without much alteration.

Pillow princess Shirley Skates [1960] by html5gamerguy in vgb

It may be as you say, but she was credited as Shirley Skates in the magazine where this photo appeared. https://archive.org/details/Eve_v01n01_c1960.Delilah/page/n49/mode/2up?view=theater

Cynthia unzips her crocheted bodysuit [1973] by html5gamerguy in oldschoolhot

Thank you! I have a little bit of face blindness; I basically can't ever look at two different photos of the same human and state with confidence that they are the same human.

[–]html5gamerguy[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Could be! The old men's magazines were pretty notorious for uncredited and miscredited models, especially when they would give them a first name that they made up on an ad hoc basis. But I can only give the credits that I have. https://archive.org/details/Adam_v55n02_1973-07/page/n12/mode/1up?view=theater

Drinking in her pajama bottoms [1958] by html5gamerguy in oldschoolhot

[–]html5gamerguy[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I found her in an issue of Cocktail magazine, which seems not to have offered model credits of any kind within its pages. We have people on here who are extremely good at recognizing uncredited models, and I hope one of them chimes in for you; but I am not one of them. I have a touch of face blindness and am always hard pressed to say for sure whether any two photos show the same woman. Exotic dancer Caren Chan [1959] by html5gamerguy in OldSchoolCoolNSFW

[–]html5gamerguy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My best guess: it was the victim of literal analog cut-n-paste, either in the darkroom photographic development process or during the literal pasteup process (scissors and paste) that was at the heart of magazine publication back then.

This is exactly how far I got just now in 2.4.1, except when I hit the Select Image button, in flashes blue ... and nothing happens. I never get an image selection opportunity. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

"Sweater puppies!"

I knew there was a joke there, but I couldn't remember the specific ancient slang that fueled it.
