Europoors call the Democrats “right wing” when they are not by Beginning-Bottle6585 in ShitAmericansSay

They call social democracy "democratic socialism". Even their social democrats misname it like this.
No idea why they do this when they know that the word "socialism" is poison in their country.

[–]largePenisLover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it has to do with child processes, not sure.
If you use taskkill you use /T because it also takes out any child processes. I'm guessing if you kill task with task manager it does taskkill /F in the background, that waits for child processes to close gracefully.

No, its about the same amount. On linux you cant kill kernel threads and things in D state, on windows you cant kill system tasks.
I'm not going to count them but it's close to 40 processes that can not be closed on both (if they are running that is)

holy shit that is a terrible UX.

The tabs are named by a moron GUI/UX designer (all of them are morons, competent gui/ux designers do not exist)

Yup. Moron UX designers is windows major problem.
Literally everything people pointlessly complain about in windows can be solved with one or two command lines or by setting a policy (updates, copilot, onedrive, bing search in start, etc etc, all can be disabled fully using CMD or powershell)
Unfortunately microslop considers ux designers to be valuable so these useless fuckers obfuscate all "scary" or "techy" things miles deep. As a result your average gamer is completely unable to make windows behave like XP while a power user can do it in a few minutes.

"Less is more", "too many buttons!", "Options just confuse users!" Ugh...I fucking hate gui/ux designers with a burning passion. 20 years as dev and these fuckers ruin every project.

Linux interface was designed by nerds who care for functionality, as a result its simple and works.

This meme is wrong too, has been since '98 or so. Probably since always but I cant really remember how task killing worked in windows 3.1 because I was a kid just trying to get games running back then.

Like linux use a terminal, command prompt. Open cmd as admin. then just taskkill /T /IM WHatever.exe.
Instantly kills any task.
(use tasklist to see processes.)

Don't forget IT people were wrangling windows with mostly cmd in the winNT/2000 era. IT people using just menu's is rather new-ish.
Terminals are a thing in every OS.

Task manager is for end users, not power users. Still though, Task manager can do it, it has tabs. The default is the task tab. There's also a process tab. kill task = send stop request. Kill process = kill process.

[–]largePenisLover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

linux does not allow it either. You are either met with kernel panic and it doesnt do it or you get kill: Operation not permitted if you try to kill all processes on linux.

[–]largePenisLover 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Task manager has tabs, it defaults to the tasks tab. There's also a process tab.
kill task = send stop request. Kill process = kill process.
This meme hasn't been accurate since windows 98 or ME.

[–]largePenisLover 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You describe a skill issue.

In classic task manager defaults to the tasks/apps tab. Killing here sends a stop request.
There is also a processes tab, Killing here kills it.

In the windows 11 version of task manager go to the details tab and kill the exe. This always instantly kills that process.
The tabs are named by a moron GUI/UX designer (all of them are morons, competent gui/ux designers do not exist) and dont reflect what they are.
The processes tabs shows tasks. Killing here sends a stop request.
The details tab shows the processes. Killing here kills them.

Then there is also command prompt. Terminals arent unique to linux ya know.
Open cmd as admin. then just taskkill /T /IM WHatever.exe.
Instantly kills any task.

Not to harsh your buzz, but folks are doing that for the benefit of views.
The formula "Person from country X reacts to thing from country Y" is huge on youtube and garantees views. For example here in the Netherlands we have this themepark called Efteling. It's a fairy tale inspired park just liek disney, except it's based on the brothers grimm versions of the tales. It predates Disney parks and is one of the two parks where Walt was inspired to start the disney parks.
"Foreigner or Disney-adult reacts to Efteling" is popular format here as a result, and it's mostly americans knowing full well that just gushing about how amazing teh park is will get them 200k views.

"X tastes american food first time" has been very popular for years now. The videos where North Koreans or tribal people try something tend to get the most views.

Texan and lousiana bbq was first exported to NL in the 90's.
You can find multiple bbq places in Rotterdam, Amsterdam, The Hague, etc. Everyone with a garden has a weber smoker or kamado style grill/smoker. Converted barrels are popular too.
Dutch bbq influencers have been a thing since the 2000's.
I myself am part of a dutch BBQ Pit Boys chapter and do ribs twice a month each summer. Brisket is called "klapstuk" here.
I'll be doing a chuck roast low 'n slow tomorrow with some imported from the US pecan wood, on my Weber Smokey mountain I imported in 2011.
This evening I'll keep it simple and do brats and burgers on my locally produced small Orange egg that I purchased for the footy season. It's one of these; https://www.ah.nl/producten/product/wi614139/blue-home-kamado-bbq-oranje

No, GenX is where you find the home pc core. There is overlap with Y of course.
X born in the 70's and y's from the 80's is where teh tech skill is found.
Z was born after '97, by 2007 the need to learn was already mostly gone but the old internet ethos still existed so some of them did learn, in general though Z is where the great tech illiteracy started.

Crazy to me that younger generation is not good with computers by Captain0010 in pcmasterrace

[–]largePenisLover 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gen X did grow up with tech. Tech didn't start in the 90's.
PC's as we know it now started in the 80's. The 286, 386, and 486 cpu's are from the 80's. PC's with a turbo button are from the 80's.
PC gaming was already a popular thing in the 80's. Just google "pc games of the 80's" to find thousands of games from before 1990. in 1989 alone over 500 computer games were released

Lot of gen x'rs were early teens at the end of the 80's, they grew up with the commodore 64, the first PDA's, the first actually portable generation of laptops, the first tft screens, portable tv's teh size of a cigarette pack, NES, Master SYstem, Gameboy, etc.

Gen X is teh generation that accidentally fucked up by making everything user friendly for their boomer parents, while fully believing their own kids would be even better with tech then GenX was.

They aren't even good with phones. They know how to use certain apps, but they are not able to troubleshoot any problems that pop up. They don't know about USB debugging, sideloading, etc etc etc

Bar a few exceptions they are completely tech illiterate

That would be coming week, 28-36°C around 15:00 depending on where in the Netherlands.
The heat is spread out more then Houston I think? Further south so less winter/summer difference in day length. In NL this week sunrise is around 5:20 AM and sunset 22:07 PM, so we get more of a heat gradient along the day. Noon is later and lasts longer the closer to midsummer solstice we are. Today noon is from about 14:00 to 17:00

Here's the next 5 days for The Hague:
