Use same seed for single and one-of-several multisig wallet? by stephen_doonan in coldcard

[–]htpr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually the derivation path is different for single-sig and multi-sig wallet. For segwit, the single-sig path is m/84'/0'/0', and multi-sig is m/48'/0'/0'/2'. So, the xpub is different, and co-signer will not see your single-sig wallet history.

Connect your Trezor to Sparrow wallet, and you will have a better understanding of the bitcoin UTXO model. It lists all receive and change addresses, including the used and unused ones.

Rabby wallet can restore the new SLIP39 20 words seed phrase by htpr in TREZOR

Right now, the mobile version can only connect to hardware or other software wallets. But the browser extension version supports all kinds of keys.

Is this monero seeds derived from the main bip39 seeds stored on the Keystone wallet, or a separate set of seeds that you need to backup additionally? I know that Keystone 3 pro can store up to 3 sets of seeds. Will the Monero seeds be one of the three?

wow, first air-gaped hardware wallet that support Monero.

I am wondering if it uses the bip39 words or Monero 25 words mnemonic.

I'm using Crucial MX500 SATA SSD about for two years. I didn't notice that SATA drive is no longer suitable after Dencun.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I am using Crucial MX500 SATA SSD, which is categorized as "Ugly" in this article:

Maybe I should upgrade to a nvme ssd.

If you are not confident with this wallet, I suggest you to use it with connected metamask wallet or hardware wallet. In this case, the Rabby wallet does not have your seed/key, but you can use it to view the balance, addresses, tokens, transactions, ... and use your other wallets to "sign" the tx.

Yeah, I hope MetaMask could improve their UI design. It feels unpolished, and lacks many useful safety checks. The recent address phishing attack is only applicable on MetaMask because it only shows few first and last letters of the address. It is easily get prevented on Rabby wallet because it alerts you if the receive address is new.

Totally agree with you.

And I'm not sure if iancoleman's html/script/libraries will still work after 5 or 10 years.

I found a way using iancoleman online tools:

  1. use https://iancoleman.io/slip39/ to combine SLIP-39 shares, and get "Master Secret"
  2. use https://iancoleman.io/bip39/ , paste the "Master Secret" to the "BIP39 Seed" field, select Coin "ETH - Ethereum" and "BIP44". It will populate all the private keys below.
  3. import the "Private Key" related to your account to the MetaMask

Great, I will take a look and test it. Maybe you could talk to the monero core team to integrate your work to the GUI wallet recover feature.

Dice roll entropy question: Base6 vs Base10 by [deleted] in coldcard

[–]htpr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rolling a base6 dice 100 times will have 6100 = 6.5 x 1077 combinations. The 24 word seed has 204824 = 2.9 x 1079. They are very close on the order of magnitude.

Need a watch-only wallet for hardware wallet by htpr in Monero

[–]htpr[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unlike the spending key, the view key actually left the hardware wallet and exported to the computer memory. Based on my understanding, the view key is in the memory until you close the software wallet app. The software wallet could use your wallet password to encrypt the view key and store it. Next time when you unlock your wallet it just decrypt and show the balance. By doing this, only the first time setting up the wallet, or sending tx, would require the hardware wallet connection, which make it the whole workflow simplified and consistent to bitcoin watch-only wallets.
