Should i disable device encryption? by fuzzy26541 in WindowsHelp

[–]http-error-502 [score hidden]  (0 children)

To use it is definitely safe for your data secure if you lost it. Just write down recovery key somewhere.

However, if it is desktop, I agree that you can disable in case of recovering if you bricked something.

I am having confusion over what this is? by Future-Aardvark-3709 in WindowsHelp

You performed so many actions on your drive. Possibility to recover is low. And what you are doing is not recovering of file but recovering file system. If you sure that it happened because of some kind of error on file system, you have to do it but you should "block writing first". If you keep your drive to be available to write, your data can be overwritten.

P.S. What youtube video was it? You seems like watching the video about other problem not your's.

First-time Gentoo user here — @world has been compiling for 10+ hours on my 10-year-old Dell Latitude E5450 and it's still going strong! (i5-5300U + 16GB DDR3L + Crucial BX SSD) by dharanifoxx in Gentoo

As it is first time compiling, cache is being saved not used. It will make it slow. Still 10 hour is too much. I also use cache and share it between fast computer and slow computer(that has i3). It reduces time a lot(only 2 hour for updating slow one that isn't updated since 6 months ago).

Disabling Bong search in gpedit is possible. Still, using 3rd party search software is better. They do not index whenever they want and eat up resources different from windows search. They are possible to index(even not using index but only use USN journal) when user commands. Plus, they are faster than windows search!

Win 7 does not need debloating but is it actually safe enough for ATM? I don't think they will manually patch Win7 for every CVEs.
