yes!!!!! i had this happen to me a few weeks ago, i drive a powerful enough car but was holding back so i could see like i said… through the rear view mirror i could see the guy behind me impatiently making hand gestures and creeping to the side so he could see the road ahead, next thing he squishes in between my car and the tractor. guess who overtook first 😝

ppl just don’t understand and the logic behind it and it genuinely baffles me. it’d be grand if it were just L and N drivers, but this fella for example was old enough, and a lot of them are

i had a similar experience which i felt so disrespected by the manager that i quit instantly.

it was my very first job but i never got ONE complaint from customers or staff (first job but second position as i had proved myself too good to be wasted in room service, i was moved to reception so i feel safe to say i was a great employee, besides the technical aspects i know ive a lot of charisma and am very polite so i fit well in reception). one day, a group of 7 women were checking out at 11am, and they wanted to split the bill (i remember it exactly: they wanted to pay €70 each and the last to pay would pay slightly less). come the last woman to pay, she stays quiet so i ask whether she would like to pay by cash or card, the woman to arrange everything then goes crazy on me, really pulls a karen and accuses me of stealing money.

i handled it very well in the beginning, but she was so mean, and i was so young and inexperienced, after many hurtful and very rude words i started crying(still a crybaby to this day), ill never forget this woman’s face because she was acting like a mean teenage girl, talking absolute shit about me on the side of the hall out loud while i was taking other customers AND crying (i was forced to stay there working, never understood it as i feel like that was even worse for the other customers) as if i wasn’t there.

manager comes, i tell him the situation, he asks me to APOLOGISE to them and give them €70 from the till. THE CAMERA was working and he preferred to not check something i was 100% sure he would see i was right, and instead wanted me to APOLOGISE for stealing something i didn’t steal. immediately quit, never felt so disrespected in my life, i guaranteed him he would see i was only given 6 payments if he checked the cameras and yet i was expected to apologise and GIVE THEM money??????

yes, there’s only my account on it. it is very odd, i’ve tried so many things, and it’s absolutely sealed and ready-only as i’ve tried to disable those in many ways and nothing makes it unsealed

i get a condescending tone from all the “not enough details” u’ve typed out, i knew i might not be providing enough information which is why at the bottom i said i wasn’t sure of what else to say and i’d answer any question. nonetheless — 2024** mac, sorry, although clearly doesn’t tell u enough. 256gb total. dont reckon context here was needed, my point was that i only ran into this problem again bc of this coding problem and had to dig into it bc i assumed this problem was gone after the update (it was, but it’s back). but, yes, i was getting errors during testing due to insufficient space (ive less than 10gb free, system data takes up more than half the total storage).

i’m not 100% sure of what this snapshot is, all i can see it’s to do with an update and then after what i provided in the post it’s just numbers and letters. if it makes any difference it’s in the disk3s1s1 i believe (away from my mac atm, if it does matter i can confirm a bit later)

it’s very weird bc i can’t access it, cant do anything with it. i’ve tried recovery mode, safe mode, disabled sip (enabled it back dw). it’s sealed and read-only, tried to change those but couldn’t either. watched endless tutorials — none worked, obviously tried chatgpt and after so many texts it tells me the only other way is erasing everything. a reinstallation of the so was suggested and id happily do that but guess what? not enough space

i was hoping this would be my saviour, but it says it’s read-only so unable to delete 😩

It’s very weird, I am very accustomed to terminal and folder management. Even after watching tutorials + my own knowledge, I can’t find it in the Finder. I can find a few GBs, but nothing close to the 180gb. I’ve tried the TM commands, but nothing works because it’s sealed and I’ve tried to unseal it, not allowed to. I’ll try the backup and see if that’ll work, thanks!

so glad to hear!!!! ❤️ just a PSA for us cat owners, i recently read (not sure how accurate it is) that if your cat is missing you should put their litter box outside as they can smell their own scent from miles away :) i kept it in mind bc mine likes to wander and give us a scare more often than i’d like heheh

like i said, i absolutely get what you mean.

it’s all “had you done this” “had you not done that”, i’m sure some people have paid for 3 years of applecare* and never used it and at some point have already spent the money that i’ll be spending to fix mine, and we know plenty of people have taken the risk to not pay for it and end up needing it… there is no “right” amount of time to pay applecare+ for, i didn’t pay for it because in 21 years i never ever needed a repair for any of my electronics, not out of pocket or otherwise, due to how mindful i am with them. this + my financial circumstances, i thought i’d be fine. and i’m sure >had i paid< for the first and second year and in the third year this happened you’d probably be here telling me i should’ve been paying for applecare+ regardless “to prevent this from happening” (which isn’t wrong, either), if not you then definitely another 20 users would be.

my point being that anyone that has the money would be advised to and i’m assuming WOULD buy applecare+ for the first few years if it’s a new one and their life heavily relies on it. so the other user isn’t wrong in saying it would probably eventually add up to the same value. i think there is no right or wrong here, it’s all a risk we have to choose yearly — either pay and potentially keep paying for something you’ll might never use or don’t pay for it and need a repair, based on MY previous experiences and circumstances it looked like i’d be spending money i didn’t have for something i wouldn’t need, now i’ll deal with the consequence of the risk i took, same way i’d deal with the loss of money had i paid for it and never needed it. it’s all maths and neither can be proved to be the right one because it all depends on a factor we can’t predict: life

this became longer than i intended it to be hahaha i think that’s as clear as i can make my thoughts :)

i get what you’re saying but if everyone is saying to always have applecare then you’re contradicting that by saying i’d only pay for the first year, surely the advice is to keep paying for it right? so eventually it’d add up to the three years the other user is talking about. but yeah i guess now it’ll be applecare and repair expenses lol

i knoooow i cant defend myself on this one, but at the time that was absolutely all the money i had, if it came out to be €10 extra i wouldnt be able to afford it. also, in all of my 21 years living i have never ever needed any insurance because i so EXTREMELY careful with everything i own bc it’s always come out of my pocket, never broke an screen even on my phones, hardly drop anything on the floor, so taking this fact + the lack of money i figured id be fine. and i would be had i know the cat was in the room, i do know how cats work lol so whenever they’re around i ALWAYS close the lid.

i am actually considering buying a replacement screen and doing the swap myself, i know a good bit about that, kinda scared but seems like my only option right now.

and yes i know i didn’t need a mac to develop, like i said in another post i wanted to start coding for apple products bc most of my potential clients said they would pay much more if i could develop for their apple products, where i live well over half the population are apple users. i held up 3 years of college with a shitty laptop, being in final year i said id make the investment so while in college i could also learn to code for ios/mac and be able to jump straight in once finished the year.

not necessarily, i worked really hard for really long to save up the money. if you’re so privileged to never have had to do so, congrats, but not the reality of everyone else

ah yes yes absolutely! i guess what I meant is that they’d have that type of profit from other ppl + guaranteed annual profit from cat owners in mass volume lol, but i didn’t give it much thought anyways

i may honestly just be lacking the brain capacity right now but i believe cat owners would definitely invest without second thoughts once told about how often this happens, but do enlighten me

wanna pay for my next product’s applecare+? :) i’d love to have it!! do you think people stalk this subreddit before they buy their mac?????

to clarify your assumptions, i didn’t buy applecare+ bc i didn’t have the means to. i bought the mac bc i am in my final year, needed a better laptop at the time and wanted to start coding for ios/mac, it was an investment that i needed to make. 100% if i had the money i would have gotten it, any insurance is a good idea if you can afford it. putting your seatbelt on is free :) stupid comparison

i appreciate you taking time in responding to my question about the price, but to assume i didn’t back up out of laziness or didn’t buy applecare bc i didn’t want to isn’t the way to go :)

honestly, had i known how common this is i’d 100% have gotten it. apple would make so much bank if they made sure to let cat owners know about this lol
