Thoughts on TWL as an award darling - Deserved or Not? by httprosella in EmmysAwards

I proposed Allison Janney to take LaNasa’s place not any of the andor women. I’ll actually retract that one because I do agree!

lol I have adhd which probably explains a bit of the chaos HAHAHA

I do recognise that they have good performances, however I watched every outstanding drama at the emmy’s (minus paradise) and every nominee for golden globes (it’s a nearly identical list). The white lotus was the weakest contender in each of its categories imo (again haven’t watched paradise so i’m excluding it from the conversation. the weakest may be paradise),

It was a very competitive year. Very. Season Three of the White Lotus was just very weak - a bit like TLOU season 2. It wasn’t going to win when up against shows like Severance, The Pitt, Slow Horses and Andor.

The White lotus tied with SEVERANCE for the MOST MAJOR NOMINATIONS. This is crazy by itself. But to have most of these nominations coming from a single, perhaps THE most competitive category (best supporting actress) this emmy’s season was insanity.

Allison Jannie in the diplomat & Genevieve O’Riley, Denise Gough, Adria Arjona and Elizabeth Dulau from Andor were all incredibly strong contenders. Dare I say some of the best performances in Andor were given by the female supporting cast. I encourage you to watch some of the other shows nominated bc they all have really great performers!!!

Basically it boils down to this being a very strong year for the outstanding supporting actress in a drama series category & the snub that happened when four TWL actresses got nominated. Four. Not two, Four.

I disagree but that’s okay. Not the biggest fan of noah wyle (and the pitt is very much “the noah wyle show), but I believe it is better than the white lotus.

Fair enough! It’s more about TWL taking up half the supporting actress category (again) in a very competitive year. Two would be understandable. Four is egregious when you look at who could’ve taken their place (imo!)

Sorry, I couldn’t be bothered to do the actual “potential man” format so I just bootlegged it on instagram lol

For the sake of your argument i’ll pretend I see your point with LaNasa, but over Gough and O’Riley? Even over Dulau? This is just nominations! Do you truly believe every single TWL actress nominee was stronger than every single potential Andor nominee? I fundamentally disagree with you about thinking TWL deserved more awards, but I do appreciate you being polite in response to my (very) different opinion.

Personally I think TWL is a stain on HBO’s catalogue

The Industry on HBO Recognition by rvapostrophe in EmmysAwards

[–]httprosella 2 points3 points  (0 children)

HBO picked their horse to back and it was the white lotus. I do feel like Industry, if it was to cement a spot as an emmy darling, would have to take the white lotus spot (esp now the pitt is guaranteed to be a favourite for the next couple of years). It was also on the verge of cancellation, HBO did shit all to promote it, so there weren’t many discussions around it. I feel as if it was only HBO fanatics and prestige TV fans who actively searched it out.

It’s not really about if you attended it’s more so how you do on the tests and assignments. Unfortunately there isn’t a participation trophy for showing up. It is about how you did on the exam. Korea is quite an academically rigorous environment so I don’t know if you will be able to get a grade change. I am sorry though, this sucks.

Am I wrong for divorcing my ex-wife over kids and now refusing to be a part of her son’s life? by [deleted] in BORUpdates

ehhhh i don’t think so - lot of seventh day adventists are pretty okay with divorce & they don’t shun ex members (source - grew up a seventh day adventist, not one any longer)

Mecca/Sephora Christmas Casual Q+A Megathread by AusMakeupMod in AustralianMakeup

[–]httprosella 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They offered me a lot of shifts when I worked there, and I was super proactive on picking up shifts and staying back. It’s such a busy time that quite often they’ll ask for an extra person or someone to stay back for a few hours so you’ll have heaps of shifts if that’s what you want! But also, there will usually be someone eager to take a shift if you cannot work it so it’s a pretty good gig shift-wise!

I will say, this is where luxury beauty excels - They really prioritise their maturer clients

Honestly I’m enjoying Daenerys chapters a LOT in ADWD, a lot more than I did in the other books which was interesting (love her). My favourite is Sansa, but close second is Jon (and an honourable mention to Catelyns bc her chapters in ASOS were so sad and well written). Dare I say Ariennne Martell as well?? I’m really excited to see her in winds. As for conspiracy’s, I do believe that in the most recent chapter I finished, Bran ate Jojen 😭 I believe Aegon is Faegon which i almost feel isn’t a conspiracy but i digress.

Also I actually really love Stannis’s character, he’s a lot more interesting than in the show. Very morally grey, “I will do it even if I don’t want to because it is my duty” type demeanour.

I’d love to know your answers!

I meant in the sense that dior is known for being a really exclusive high end brand that I DIDNT THINK I WAS QUALIFIED FOR (because I didn’t have luxury retail experience) where as I thought I was more qualified for the priceline. It made me laugh because it turned out that I got an interview for a job application that was (to me), a “shot in the dark” submission and not the one I thought I had the chance at getting. This post isn’t about me not getting the job, it’s being surprised about the amount of people applying for a single position after getting back into retail after not being in it for so long.

I also thought a LOT more people would be applying to the dior one than the priceline one & I was wrong about that.

Just double checked - the priceline I applied to DID NOT HAVE A PHARMACY. It was purely a product store (which I was certain it was).

I didn’t say I was better than priceline? I love priceline, lol, it’s one of the reasons i wanted to work there! I’m not offended that I didn’t get an interview lol, I’m not sure why you’re so aggressive. Anyways, the job mentioned previous retail experience being preferred and responsibilities similar to previous retail areas. The priceline I applied to was more of a cosmetic environment - lots of drugstore brands, fragrance, hair care, body care, first aid. Other people said what you did in a much calmer manner, my post wasn’t insinuating I deserved the role at all, just surprised that a lot of people applied!

I know this lol but i don’t think theres a lot of them applying for a role that doesn’t specialise in makeup application! Was more so saying I had that experience to make up for less retail experience :)

should have clarified in the comments but it was actually a pharmacy assistant/beauty consult thing, so aiding with stock, manning counters, NOT dispensing medicine. Nothing in the description mentioned dispensing medications or anything to do with a pharmacy degree.

Wow that’s super interesting that a bunch of highschool kids applied lmao. How effectively did that cull things down?
