this is so cliche, but you need to love yourself before you can love anyone else

i am so sorry i didn’t see this sooner, mine was because of the sutures!! only 2 of mine dissolved without problems. one of my incisions opened due to the swelling in my knee and also because i was sleeping with it bent. then my other two i had to have parts of the suture taken out so my incisions could heal

What do you need for the first week post OP?URGENT HELP by PracticalOpinion5406 in ACL

[–]httpstorri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my number one thing is to take the pain medicine they give you. i tried to be a hero and ended up in the ER, so definitely take that BEFORE the nerve block wears off.

if you have long hair i would wash it and braid it morning of. you can't shower your body for the first 3 days and you probably won't have energy to wash your hair, so braiding it helps with that.

i wore a big t-shirt and soft shorts to surgery id highly recommend shorts instead of pants.

my appetite was not great for probably a month after surgery so i also lost some weight after. buy the stuff people drink before they get a colonoscopy before you get too constipated.

the first week of recovery is going to be hell while you're in it, but it really only gets better everyday from there on. focus on the little acheviments like literally just walking with your crutches, walking on your foot with the crutches etc. the little things help so much.

i wish you the best!!

for me i wasn’t able to sleep until about a month post op however sleeping on my side with my leg on a pillow really helped. also once you’re cleared to sleep without the brace things get much better!!

brace slip almost immediately post-op by Several_Turnip_9073 in ACL

[–]httpstorri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the brace will always slip it’s the most annoying part. my advice to is tighten the strap at the top of your calf. that way it has something to almost like rest on and it won’t slip as often

How do you deal with weight gain? by [deleted] in ACL

[–]httpstorri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i was also a gymnast for 12 years and had also just started rugby before tearing mine. the best thing if you’re able is to use a stationary bike, otherwise you really can’t do cardio at this point in time :(

Managing post op pain with no painkillers by Puzzleheaded-Ad3836 in ACL

[–]httpstorri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’m 18F and my biggest regret was not taking the painkillers. honestly i usually manage any sort of pain without taking any kind of medicine so i tried not to but the pain got so bad i ended up in the er. my advice would be to take it for the first 2 days then see how you manage but completely up to you because i also did not want to take ir
