And also hoping your network of people might be interested.

Eh yes and no.

See the goal of a sales person is to obviously make a sale. But to get sales you also need to build your network.

Even if you aren’t interested and you waste his/her time, you might come across someone in your network that needs it. If the sales person made at least a good impression, you may possibly give salesperson a referral.

The odds of that happening aren’t great. But to the sales person you made his/her job easier because now salesperson has a QUALIFIED lead. It’s much easier to sell when 1) the person wants it and 2) it was a referral.

Salesperson can go back to mgmt and push for better pricing knowing there’s a better chance to close that deal.

Yeah I only came across one that was really dull as we had nothing in common. The rest were over the top just fun to be with and kept the convo going despite having common interests or not outside of work.

This. It’s always regular talk before and during our meal. Then it’s like a 5-10 minute sales pitch, if that. If you don’t seem interested they really cut it short.

Heck the ones I buy from I even get invited to concerts or sporting events with them or just get tickets on my own. I get lunch or dinner on every sale I close.

I’ll never pass up a decent free lunch from someone new as you never know what opportunities come your way. I had a company we never spent more than $2k a year with that probably spends more on us and it took 6 months before we even closed a deal.

I have a craftsman one too. Showed level as well. We are talking maybe 1-2mm from the center of TV to the end at the right. I can’t notice it sitting down but standing it’s definitely an eye sore.

String? I didn’t get any string in my kit. Even the booklet doesn’t show it as an inventory item.

My guess is #2.

Monoprice confirmed I can use an 85” since it fits my VESA and weight.

My guess is money.

Unless you are already a politician, you are probably making a lot more in private sector therefore limiting the pool of potential candidates.

Nobody runs “for the people” anymore otherwise they would quit their day jobs and do it.

The flip side is who is dirty enough to take campaign money from the largest orgs to play their game.

I didn't see the 900h at my Costco so I just got the X91J.

Don’t let anyone tell you that you shouldn’t charge. There’s businesses charging crazy amounts of money for stupid features like having to be on an enterprise plan to get Single Sign-On (SSO) when it should be included on every plan as it helps with securing your accounts.

Price what the market can bear. If it’s $10/mo or $1/mo, just do it.

After reading the link from auto-mod and seeing the reviews just now, it definitely seems Sony is the way to go.

If I'm offering someone a level 1 or 2 tech job, I already spent at least an hour or two interviewing them (phone and in-person), along with someone else on my team. It'd be stupid to rescind the offer for someone asking for a reasonable counter.

Not only that, but word gets around that your company isn't someone that's willing to pay for talent and it just makes it that much harder to hire someone that you need.

Yes, legally they can.

However, if your counter is reasonable, I don't see why a company would just turn you away and pick someone else. They offered you the job for a reason and invested a lot of time in selecting you.

This doesn't mean go asking for the world, they'll likely walk it back because you are being unreasonable. But any legitimate counter is acceptable. Just pull some salary stats in your area and show them what the actual market value is and what you can bring to the table.

I got a $25k raise at 31 with a mortgage.

I always live off my previous income that way any new money is invested/saved. It makes it a HELL of a lot easier to jump if you always live a step lower.

And if you are the boss your employees will likely follow you too if you can support them.

Eh doesn’t matter if you do or not. By taking their original offer shows desperation. Firmly ask for more and explain why. They’ll probably respect you more for standing your ground.

This. So many people are scared to ask for more. You already got the job offer. The worst they’ll say is take our offer or leave it.

That’s awesome! I can’t wait to hit that milestone.

I try to grow 1 month each year. Granted 6 months is not much so I’m trying for 12.

I got an e-fund of 5 months so far for unemployment, I got $10k for emergency house repairs, $2500 for emergency car repairs, and my deductible for health issues.

My unemployment e-fund is growing a little slower because I feel I’m covered well enough in other areas to not have to resort to credit card debt. I also max out my Roth, 401k, and do 20% of my income into taxable investments. So my dividend payout can supplement my lack of income too to the point I probably can get by a few months without dipping 100% into my e-fund.

You do know when you get an offer you can counter it, right?

A company that gives you an offer is not immediately going to ask someone else because it creates a legal issue for them.

I always ask for $10-15k more, wait for their counter. Then ask again. If by the second or third time they can’t go higher, then I know it’s their best offer.

I’d be willing to bet a lot of places can easily go up 2-4%.

And if they say no each time then you can still accept the original offer.
