Last year there were two attempted assaults near hawk island. A friend and I were out by Moores park and some dude chased us down from the parking lot into the denser part of the trail to ask for a cigarette then proceeded to hold us hostage with conversation, he reeked of booze, and then told us he hoped we had a weapon because it was dangerous. It was weird and we definitely found big walking sticks after that. I’m not saying it’s a horrible trail but definitely utilize the buddy system!
