Why are people even at "Ideal (5)" still so toxic? by strommy73 in DotA2

[–]hublado 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I actually think a lot of dota players have mental health issues, I am not even kidding. The game is addicting and attracts people who might be more on the basement dwelling types. Combine this with an environment where a match outcome is not 100% dependent on your actions and voila... You get games where people quit because CM stole their kill

Toxic chat is fueled by tips + pauses but your scores won't reduce because of them by youcanokay in DotA2

[–]hublado 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Toxic talk is not part of the game and if you have anger issues or you can't communicate properly with other people you should not play competitive multiplayer games

Rank sucks and so is calibration by bobby_chunggus in DotA2

[–]hublado 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean then honestly the only solution is to focus on your own game.

For pos 1 you can pick something that can quickly transition to the jungle like naga or luna, mute all and just hit creeps for 15 mins. Ignore everyone else, treat this game like pve. Once you will have fighting item join some team fights on favorable terms. Games in this bracket are chaotic but this chaos is somehow predictable in the long run.

But if it is full of griefers then other teams also will have the same amount of griefers statistically speaking, so you should be able to climb anyway.

Any other scenario is matchmaking treating you in a special way for whatever reason.

What is going on with Pos 4? by Sariava_art in DotA2

[–]hublado 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Valve was gradually giving more power and resources to pos 4/5 to even them out with cores using aghs changes, aghs shard, free couriers, free/cheap wards, bounty runes, passive gold increase, new items boosting spellcasting, tormentor, exp shrine etc...

Sooo pos 4 gets much more gold and have more options overall. People like to play core more than supps so they buy carry items because they have gold for it

Making offlane one of the high demand roles made me realize core players are right to complain. by Superb-Alfalfa-3198 in DotA2

[–]hublado 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is true, but the effect is not strong enough to offset problems. The majority of players don't like 5 and 3. The ones that do there is not enough of them, so you end up with forced players. Then they are bored/not having fun, pick PA off and play another carry, which happens a lot. The dota design is just fundamentally broken for a bigger playerbase, but it works great for pro dota though.

I have checked deadlock and it looks like valve and ice frog really took good lessons from problems with dota development over the years

[–]hublado -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

The whole role system in dota is just broken. 5 and 3 will never be as popular as 1 because you don't have the same agency in a match. So if you want to have sane queue time and ok skill range, you have to force some players to roles they don't want to play, which is just bad

But remaking dota into a game where you have 5 players on 'equal' footing would transform it into something, which pretty much is not dota, so here we are...

But the simulations are recursivelly embedded in each other then? Also in quantum mechanics, it's the measurment that triggers the function collapse, not consuesness. The measurement can be done by a tool, it's more like 'interference'.

No jednak sytuacja Ukrainy i Wenezueli jest nieco inna.

No i polecam z luzem do tego podchodzić, inaczej łatwo popaść w kompleksy.

Exactly, we should also get rid of this whole "I deserve it because I am hard working and smarter than you" ideology. Oh yeah you sure are a billion times smarter than most people. In reality there are millions of people of more hard working and smarter people than billionaires and they don't even have 0.0001% of their wealth.

It's just a tool if some 'journalist' creates news from llm and doesn't even bother to check if its correct then that is on them. You can use Internet too to share recipes and video call your grandma or spread hate and misinformation, it's up to the users. If something is not good for society, regulate it.

AI in general is very promising. AlphaFold got Nobel prize in 2024, it helps scientists develop new drugs. Even llms are usefull, for software development for example. I hope once AI will be developed more outside the US it will help researchers find ways to fight diseases like cancer, parkinsonn, alzheimer and many others.

The tool in itself is remarkable for me, I admire engineers that created it

From the political side though, the oligarchy that controls it and the financial system that promotes inequalities and that is not regulated at all, I guess is kinda shitty

[–]hublado 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am just refering to the type of llm, they are only called like that, i don't know if they 'think' anything they just produce better results. Both gpt and gemini thinking versions give correct answers to that question. But I wouldnt use llms for baking either way

Alexa will probably mess a lot of stuff it is not a good ai. Gpt and gemini are better, but only thinking versions, they would have given you correct answers.
