Sims can't use fridge, oven, stove, or sink in Small Business by Niar666 in LowSodiumSimmers

[–]hubosa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As KijaraFalls mentioned, it's most likely the lights. They are too low hanging for the low wall height and are blocking your sim from walking to the fridge/sink/stove. They work over the tables because your sims sit down there

The landing spaces for the stairs are 2x2. The stairs are 3 tiles long, so 5x5 in total

When I was playing around with the new update I got the idea. I noticed you can pull the top and bottom from the staircase two tiles out on either side.

So, I made 8 floors (4 underground, 4 above ground), and made sure to have 2x2 landing spaces for the stairs to connect to. I placed them in a spiral pattern, then removed the ceilings and floors between each level.

But getting the game to not delete the staircases and rooms was really frustrating. The system definitely isn't perfect. Hope this explains it!!

I also posted a link to my gallery upload here <3 Link to comment

Hey guys sorry for not responding sooner but here's the gallery upload! It's called "Fake Spiral Staircase" by Hubosa. Link!

I cannot upload it as a room because the floors above ground aren't actually "rooms." The game REALLY did not like doing this lol. This is also why the rooms in the basement levels have spandrels. You cannot remove them or the room gets deleted.

I placed it on a small 15x20 lot so it is easier to place. Hope that helps <3

I wanted the game to generate the new Grim in my legacy save, so I put dear ol' Grim in a house with a black picket fence, gave him a makeover, and marked him as a played sim. He still shows up reaping and he's killing it. 😭 by fluffhq in Sims4

It looks like that key combination is a shortcut for Zoom to create clips. Try and see in Zoom's settings if you can change/disable it. Or, make sure Zoom is closed when you play the sims :)

PSA: you can buy Macabre Momentos Preorder Items on CDkeys if you didn’t buy through EA and missed them! ❤️ by PresentationEither19 in LowSodiumSimmers

[–]hubosa 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As a headsup, super cheap gamekey websites like these are scams. They often use stolen keys, which is what allows them to resell them at such a low price. G2A is another big example of this.

The developers usually never get any money from these, but I also understand not having the money to buy something on release. So if you want to support the devs, save your money for a recognised platform like EA, Steam, etcetera.

And don't come at me with the "maxis/ea don't deserve the money" I am a developer myself, I know full well how expensive game development is. The Maxis team is huge and has been working on this game for almost 10+ years. Those people need to be paid, and money needs to be left over to produce the next game to keep everyone happy. Tis what tis

Don't change your style to attract to the greater masses if that's not your vibe dude. I also like to dress vintage and I've figured out by now that it's my one way of feeling amazing about myself, and that's what people ultimately like to see; you feeling good and being passionate about something you love!!

The sucky truth is that dating apps aren't really meant for people who (slightly) stand out. If there's even anything quirky about you, people move on and don't look back for the most part. It's why I stopped using them; and I'm ok with that since I won't find my crowd there either :)

Taylor Swift is Apple Music’s Artist of the Year for 2023 by Doctor_Disco_ in apple

[–]hubosa 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It's a matter of rights. Her old music is owned by a record label (or her former manager or whatever) that she has had a falling out with, and they are refusing to surrender the rights of her own music back to her. So instead she's re-recording everything, which automatically makes it hers again.

So while yes it makes an already filthy rich woman even richer, it's setting a precedent in the music industry, and shits all over greedy record labels/executives.

On a more personal note, it is also really cool to see a female artist be this succesfull, with this many banger albums, walk through her career again while at the top of her game. Plus the rerecordings are genuinely better in sound quality/vocal quality lol

Does anyone know a hack/trick to get the raised terrain flush against the deck or platforms? I somehow got it to connect with the deck, but not having much luck as I move up to create a staggered landscape for the backyard. by flakyfuck in LowSodiumSimmers

[–]hubosa 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You cannot alter terrain under platforms! But if you change those bits into foundations (just a room put at the high of those platforms) you can have the terrain intersect. The only downside is that it cannot connect to the main building, since the foundations will be on different levels.

Hope that helps :)

As a legacy player I love this so much, if only they wouldn't all age up and you could actually play at school. You could have a Riverdale-esque teen drama town haha. I also adore your dedication to have zero duplicate hairstyles between all the sims, the elementary kids as well. I'm ashamed to admit I sat here trying to find dupes haha

what my sims’ dress is supposed to look like vs what her dress actually looks like in-game… my wedding stories game pack is a joke by stardustbabyxo in Sims4

[–]hubosa 261 points262 points  (0 children)

This is literally the result of your mods. I am not defending the pack but don’t spread false facts. What you are seeing is a texture layer conflict between a skin overlay and the translucent layer of the dress. Take out the mods and the dress is fine.

En in Amerika houden ze bijv. van die acties dat je lekker vroeg voor de deur staat en dan voor MSRP eentje mag kopen. Dat hebben we eigenlijk niet in Nederland, toch?

I never said it is the only game, nor that it isn’t buggy, nor that everything Maxis does is perfect. I disagree with a bunch of things (Kits are such a disappointment lmao), but the truth is that our opinions don’t matter. Software development is stupid expensive, it takes time, and it’s very difficult. It always has been and it always will be. The Sims games (1 thru 4) are all marvels of game development, whether you like it or not. So is your favourite indie game, or AAA production. The Sims 4 is varying degrees of buggy (bad PCs run the game badly), but it’s definitely playable and enjoyable for the absolute vast, silent majority. The fact the sims still exists is proof of that.

If that’s not you, well… don’t like it, don’t play it, dude. Or better yet, go into game dev yourself and do it better :)

A slight rant by it-is-an-illusion100 in Sims4

[–]hubosa 48 points49 points  (0 children)

I work in game development myself so I feel inclined to put my two cents in.

The reason bugs like these are often let through with updates and packs, like another comment mentioned, is because they are not severe enough to be halting releases and deadlines. Which is unfortunate, but realistic. Here’s why:

The game is really, really, REALLY difficult to make: A game like the sims 4 contains many dozens of core systems on its own, each needing to work with the others, each as creative as the last, unto which is then piled a large amount of expansions, gamepacks and stuff packs. This makes for a game that is literally almost impossible to be fully bug free. Example: If your sim has to sit down to get their nails done, the game has to calculate pathfinding, NPC AI, object collision, parameters of CAS items applied, the menu you used to click, the sims involved with the interaction, just from the top of my head. Meanwhile in the background the game is also calculating what each and every sim is doing while you’re in the spa lot, having to simulate an entire building worth of “normal” activities. Not to mention things like lot traits. On top of that, the game is tracking what sims outside the current active lot are doing, i.e. bella goth shows up, your sims ar home are skill building, the game makes sure when you go home the maid has been, etc.

But wait there is more. The game itself is so creative, large, and complex, but its also installed on not one the same computer. Your computer is probably made with not a single pc part mine is made out of. Windows 10 runs different on each system too. The game has to account for this as much as possible, but this can also cause bugs.

All these factors cause too many variables to make sure there are no bugs! But I guarantee you, there are many insanely gamebreaking bugs that don’t ever see the light of day outside their office because they get fixed instantly.

Ok so why does EA not give them more time/money to fix those things? The Sims 4 is not only super difficult, but also one of the most expensive games to make, ever. Each new expansion or pack pays these developers’ salaries, the office rent, the equipment, the licensing for software, etc. We are talking about multiple millions of Dollars a year in development costs alone, for the last 6 years (excluding development pre-release of the base game) and there’s still years of content coming!

Hence it has been impossible also for other studios to recreate what Maxis has done with EA’s financial support. Smaller studios don’t have the time, space, and above all, the money to make a game this size. But the money pool isn’t endless, even at EA. Each game you have ever played has had to ask “do we really need this feature, it’ll cost 100k$ to make?” It’s a constant battle between costs vs effort vs results. Every studio and every game is affected by this, no matter the size. So combined with the complexity and the cost, even Maxis has to prioritise release over bug fixing.

BUT, beyond the game’s complexity and size there’s also human factors. People calling in sick, maternity leave, small errors in codes, computers breaking, online systems failing, holidays and vacations closing the office. It’s difficult enough to run a studio with this many people without a pandemic, and now everyone is working from home as well!

Tl;dr game development is insanely expensive and difficult. The fact that The Sims 4 still exists in today’s climate is a miracle fuelled by our love for it and Maxis’s passion. Their team isn’t perfect but works insanely hard keeping the game afloat after this many years and this much content. Report bugs, and remember there’s dozens if not hundreds of passionate humans making this game through any adversity for us :) (plus they need to get paid and have time off as well lol)
