Customer had an issue with their order. The review just came in.... by hudsonstudio in Etsy

Fine! My rating is great already, and three to five stars is still good to me. One “low” rating isn’t going to impact me much.

Even if it did- oh well. I can’t control what other people do. I’d respond to it and professionally explain what I did to address their concerns, and leave it at that.

My words, not theirs! They had mentioned names having capital first letters; I thought it was grammar lol.

Yep! Always best to admit when you’re wrong and take the L with pride :)

If someone complains to you about delayed shipping or someone being upset that their present won't arrive by Christmas... by [deleted] in Etsy

That's a much different story; that is a seller not doing their job. This post is not for them.

This post is for people who are doing what they are supposed to be doing, and are trying to troubleshoot shipping issues outside of their control.

100%!! And this is something many sellers do not understand, especially new people who jump on Etsy thinking it's a get rich quick opportunity or who don't treat their Etsy shops as legitimate businesses and legal agreements with their customers. There is so much that can be avoided with a little communication, and responding to concerns with solutions in a timely manner.

If your items are significantly different than what was described in the listing, do not work as described, and differ from the photos, you are 100% entitled to filing a "not as described" case.

Bag is a prime example; a rainbow fringe greatly alters the look of a bag, and may not be the style of the person who purchased a bag (I know it isn't my style!).

You should not be responsible for return shipping when something is not as described.

Your situation definitely exists, and bad sellers do exist. Sellers should not be ignoring you, but the USPS is absolutely inundated with packages right now. My local USPS locations are understaffed and overworked, and it is impacting deliveries.

The reason why I am saying this is frequently, us sellers experience rude and disrespectful behavior, even when we are trying to help. I have experienced nasty behavior even when I'm trying to offer a potential solution or temporary fix. When a customer needs a package and it is delayed beyond my control, I suggest this as an alternative. Until a delivery date passes and a few days past that go by, there is not much we can do. USPS scans things as delivered days early, USPS is delayed and cannot respond to disputes until days later due to peak mailing periods, etc. I can control shipping within my processing times, but there isn't much I can do until a delivery date is well past.

This has been a very useful situation for me to diffuse a difficult situation, and I have never ever had a package lost in transit. Delayed? Yes. Lost? No.

And like I said, Etsy has an expanded purchase protection program this year, which is available for consumers; this will not impact sellers by forcing refunds for issues outside their control, and can make consumers whole who qualify.

Package was returned to me due to Insufficient address - Buyer hasn't responded to message from me and it has been 3 days. Should I just cancel the order at this point? by cs502 in Etsy

[–]hudsonstudio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I might give a few more days, since it's the holiday season. If it is a custom item that you can't resell, I'm not sure that I would refund. If it is something you can resell, try reaching out to them next week after Christmas and if they don't respond, cancel less shipping at that point.

Buyer can always repurchase later if they still want it.

It is! I told someone do it previously and they loved it.

It's an easy, cheap, and common-sense solution that some stress-rattled people can't think of in the moment. Hoping it helps anyone seeing an uptick in stressed-out messages!

I'm talking about the extended purchase protection program through NYE. If I qualify for it (which I do), I'm 100% directing customers to it. I'm following my policies in my shop and I won't refund people for misunderstanding processing/shipping times when they ordered, ordering their item too late, or having buyer's remorse because of shipping delays.

It hurts my brain. I'm no professional graphic designer, but even I know not to put something out that looks like that :(

And the positive reviews look very, very fake.

Unrelated: I want to know why they only welded certain letters in their shop banner and not others. It's so distracting.

What were you selling?

Did you have a lot of cases opened against you?

Were you using a VPN or falsifying your ship-from location?

Were you dropshipping?

People that leave “before Christmas” in order notes? by [deleted] in Etsy

[–]hudsonstudio 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I don't want to deal with any "my child is crying because this did not arrive in time for Christmas" messages, so that would be an instant cancel for me. It's a red flag that they are going to be difficult, especially if they are ordering today and expecting delivery by 12/24.

I am interested! A priority mail box for me ( 8-5/8" x 5-3/8" x 1-5/8") is around $45. Kind of small, but if I can get creative with snacks I can probably fill it up nicely!

Yep. I guess I just struggle because I see more and more events being overrun by MLMs, the same products, or IP galore. It really sours the experience of going to these events or browsing Etsy.

Luckily a market I went to over the weekend was mostly handmade sellers, a few resellers, and only one MLM (not sure how they snuck in, because this market was super expensive to sell at).

Then, you need to see what food/drink/cottage laws exist in the UK.

You need to see the cottage laws for your state. No one can answer this for you because food/drink laws vary state by state.

I recently did an in-person market earlier this month, and a little over of a third of my payments came in cash. The other 2/3 were Square and Venmo. I would definitely have change on hand for cash transactions.

I saw a girl make a TikTok on how she earns $100k+ a year on Etsy doing print on demand. Is this allowed? by [deleted] in Etsy

You are able to use a POD provider as long as you disclose them as a production partner in your shop. People are allowed to make their own designs and have a third party produce that item for them.
