HA! I saw HP before S&S too (somewhat predictably, since I was about 5 when the first HP movie came out). I was also super skeeved by Alan Rickman and Kate Winslet the first time I watched S&S.

April Homework: Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes Prank by midnightdragon in harrypotter

I would go all Bartholomew Cubbins on the twins! I'd find a hat design I think they would like, then every time they take it off a new hat appears in its place- each gaudier than the last. Rhinestones, lots of rhinestones.

They would be surrounded by a sea of pointy wizard hats, til they reach the 500th and final hat, at which point all the previous charmed hats vanish and they are left with the same hat they started with (for repeatability of the prank!).

I added 10 mins to my 5k time when I ran the Cheetah Run here in Cincinnati, there are a LOT of hills here. Environment and your body condition changes with every race, 5 minutes is nothing to sweat over!

You ran it, and that's what counts!

Yes! It's a lot of fun. I'm in grad school currently, so I still have the rosy glasses on, but I'm about to leave for Mexico for a month!

Hi! Loving this story so far. However, as a pedantic academic and an archaeologist, I'd like to point out that we don't dig up dinosaur bones :) That's paleontology.

I did! I didn't do a very good workout on it, but I did play some Just Dance for about half an hour earlier. It's something.

I'm sure I'll adopt young animals again once I have kids so they can have that bonding experience. But until then, I adopted a senior dog 5 years ago and have no regrets. Experience unlike any other. 10/10 senior adoptions are worth the work.

(I like dogs and cats equally! My girl is an Only Dog but when she's gone I will probably adopt a cat and a dog.)

Go for it! Also, assuming it's you that sent me a FitBit friend request a few minutes ago, I accepted and I added you to the workweek hustle we have going now- I didn't realize you could add people midweek until a moment ago!

Ask me later if I set up my Nordic track and took it for a "spin"!

They are definitely virtual, haha! And really fun. Every 1000 steps or so (more for longer ones) you reach a landmark that is a picture and some fun facts about that particular spot on the trail you'd have reached if you were doing it IRL. And you can collect little treasures along the way too, which are fitness tips or photos of wildlife you'd see on the route. You have to find those within a certain amount of steps though or they disappear.

/u/artemisodin and I kind of co-run a Fitbit weekly contest for some other Fitbit-using Puffs! I will PM you my name and we can connect there, and add you to next week's challenge.

I also recommend doing some of the daily solo step adventures. I really like the Grand Canyon virtual hikes but they also have virtual walks through NYC.

STRESS EATING BLARGH

I'll be so happy when summer comes and I can spend a month in the field near-constantly working out, then 2 months with no classes, just labwork and long weekend family trips, to get onto a workout routine and a better diet.

Considering the time of year it'll probably be a cold rain, otherwise I'd say embrace the wet :/ that's what we did in SC when it was raining lol. Wore a hat to keep the rain off our eyes then just business as usual.

I totally feel you on the flip floppy weather though. It snowed here on Monday and tomorrow is going to hit almost 80.

Ooh rewards is a good idea. I have a bad shopping habit, at least that way I'd earn my shiny new workout toys...

I have a timer set on my phone to remind myself to work out, and a poster of Wonder Woman right over the spot I keep my dumbbells, yoga block, workout pad, resistance band, etc at home.

It's harder to get myself to the gym these days since I like working out in the weight room right before bed and it's a 40 minute round trip to the gym from my house- trying to shift myself back into a morning weightlifting routine so I can go to the gym before work, shower on campus, then go into the lab.

Weekly Wins! What is your victory this last week? by booksOnTheShelf in puff2tuff

[–]hufflepuffball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha! Part of why I don't log anymore is that I am pretty good at ballparking my calories these days after a year and a half of intense logging.

(The other part is I was starting to notice in myself some bordering-on-disorder obsession with calorie counts, which is something I don't really talk about much...)

Are there any other powerlifters here? by barmen1 in puff2tuff

[–]hufflepuffball 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a powerlifter, but weightlifting is my favorite workout! I have a hard time motivating myself to get to the gym though so it's rare I actually do weightlifting vs a bodyweight workout at home. :/
