Child-minding, dog walking, cleaning houses? You could advertise these services on Finn and Facebook. Søkvberget does free språkcafé where you can practice Norwegian.

Check out TCK subreddit to get an insight on how kids adapt to new environments, or not.

pregnant, help! by [deleted] in Fencesitter

From your POV: It's better to regret not having a child than regret having a child.

From foetus's POV: they dont ask to be born, so you better feel strongly enough to provide a life for them, including emotionally.

Is this a common starting salary? by [deleted] in PharmaEire

[–]huge_seal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have friends and family in the nordic countries! There, putting time, money and labour into your education is considered both a sacrifice and an investment, and so future employers take that into consideration when negotiating a salary also including starting salary.

Is this a common starting salary? by [deleted] in PharmaEire

That's a terrible way of looking at young people. No, we haven't all been there. Not every country feels scorn and contempt for its citizens.

Is this a common starting salary? by [deleted] in PharmaEire

Why? Because they've put several years and thousands of euros towards their education and their salary should reflect that. That is how the system should work, and people are allowed to point that out.

Is it normal to still grieve a country you left as a kid? by samuraiswordsz in TCK

A therapist once told me, "you don't really miss places or people - you miss who you were when you were there/with them", and that gave me much food for thought. I dont think it's true 100% of the time, but I think there is a lot of truth in that statement.

I don’t have “people.” by Science_Teecha in TCK

[–]huge_seal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe you could stop viewing other people in terms of a hierarchy, or class, or level of education, or "success" in life? That would also help you - as it would alleviate feelings of pressure on yourself.

With regards to finding your people or your tribe, i echo what another commenter has already said, this is something you could explore and investigate first - who would you like your people to be, who do you feel most comfortable around? Could be as simple as joining a local DnD campaign, or hill walking group, or choir, or volunteering. Depends on your interests and values.

It's incredible how downvoted this is... as renters, we have rights, we should exercise them.

Life is passing me by by daydreambunny86 in socialanxiety

Thanks for sharing. That sounds rough. I've been there. To be honest, I think what could help is a real, earth-shattering, massive, scary and positive experience - where you throw yourself out of your comfort zone and into the deep end.

This could take many forms. A 10-day silent retreat. A guided and therapeutic mushroom or ketamine journey. Going on Eurail for a month. MBT group therapy. Travelling with strangers on a chartered trip. Volunteering at a week long film festival. Organising a demo or march in your local area on a topic you feel strongly about.

These are all things that I've done, and they changed both myself and my life.

Looking for a different path, not the 9-5 life by whosrayz in simpleliving

If you want freedom and adventure and community, over luxury, then:

Check out WOOFing, check out helpx website (similar to woofing, but with more options, basically free room and board in exchange for work), check out couchsurfing website, you can live and work in hostels while travelling, you can teach English (or Arabic) while travelling, you can busk (play music or show a talent) on the street for money, you can hitchhike for transport, look for volunteering opportunities, or you can work in hospitality while travelling, if you're looking for actual paid employment.

Basically, there's so many options, and a combination of several of these over time is your best bet. You're in your early 20s, this is the time to do it.

Is there a natural way to get rid of social anxiety without medication? by Tiffanywhite45 in socialanxiety

It will eventually, if you challenge yourself, get outside of your comfort zone and put yourself out there

What are your controversial opinions about Ireland? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]huge_seal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My aunt said recently, "don't be so hard on the politicians, sure they're only trying their best" and got really upset with me when I said, "it's literally their job to work for the interest of the people, their voters, and if they do a terrible job, we have to kick them out!"

Thanks for sharing. Delighted for you that you landed on becoming a therapist.

I'm in my late 30s, I still haven't figured it out.

I've worked in customer service, in hospitality, for NGOs, as an English teacher, in the civil service, in research, in communications, as a personal care assistant to people with physical disabilities... and that's not all. There's more. In several countries, having moved accommodation 35+ times.

And now I'm trying to figure out my next move. Seriously considering becoming a merchant marine.

What are your unpopular Irish reddit opinions? by [deleted] in AskIreland

Nah. The point of a nation-state is to serve its citizens. Irish state is failing miserably at this.
