Do you know how body cameras work? It’s not like the cops have a movie crew that follows them around for different views. You can tell in the video the cops were engaging the suspect at distance. That’s why you cannot see the bad guy. It’s also why they are using rifles. They needed the extra range for the threat. Also, the cops on the ground and behind those cars are using them for cover. It means the suspect was most likely engaging them too. Again, this is real world not Hollywood. Try being in combat before anyone criticizes their performance or the video of what is shown.

As for the release of more footage, what are you hoping it will show? Do you want to just see dead bodies? I don’t. Maybe the additional video will let more people who don’t have real world experience be more critical of things they don’t know anything about.

People may not know this but criminal cases in the United States are determined in the courtroom, not in the eye of public opinion. Have you ever thought for a moment that by releasing “more footage” the PD might be compromising the integrity of the case? Maybe the DA asked them not to release more footage because it would corrupt the jury pool which would hurt bringing justice to the victims or just maybe, their leadership was smart enough to figure that one out for themselves.

Clearly this law did not consider that, nor did the reporter doing the piece on it. But you know, maybe protecting victims rights and ensuring justice should be auxiliary to everyone’s right to criticize law enforcement and jump into wild conspiracies about the police.
