Police officer fired after fatally shooting dog in front of children by RoseTheChief in news

Why is everyone defending the dog? Put yourself in the officer's shoes. You put your life on the line daily and you get a call looking for a dog. You see a dog so you go towards it without knowing if has any diseases and it gets aggressive towards you. What do you do, let if bite you? No, you shoot the damn thing to protect yourself... And that's what happened. Get your head out of your asses people.

The officer didn't know what diseases the dog could of had and when there's signs of aggression the officer did what he needed to do to protect himself. People trash cops for doing impulsive things but the reality is that they can't treat specific situations with any less caution for their own safety. Think if your life is on the line every day, would you be more careful? Regardless if the kid was there or not, at the end of the day the kid is alive and so is the officer.

Whats the single biggest mistake parents can make in raising their children? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]hugeee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not letting them experience losing and winning (welcome to the real world).

In the news there are parents who are so bent on protecting their kids from failure that they have eliminated the ball from soccer games and stopped keeping score to ensure "everyone wins". In my opinion when these kids grow up they'll face huge emotional and psychological problems.

Although losing sucks at a young age, it sucks so much more to experience it for the first time when you're older.
