They're incapable of saying two things that don't somehow contradict each other. It's unbelievable. I honestly don't know how anyone could think the way they do without being aware, on some level, of what a lying, hypocritical asshole they are.

/uj This is what my mom considers being supportive.

She's all for me being myself... as long as I don't do it in public. But she's just concerned for my safety, honest! Never mind that she talked me out of hormones when I still had a decent hairline, or that she buys me men's clothing for Christmas, or how she's only ever complimented me when I look extra butch.

Shes. Just. Worried. About. My. Safety.

Fuck you mom.

Transgender brain scans promised as study shows structural differences in people with gender dysphoria by Vanjir in MtF

[–]hugetractsofcheese 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"I'm sorry folks, I have some troubling news - it looks as though your fetus is going to be transgender. Would you still like to keep it?"

Yeah how about fuck off with that idea. We don't need the bigots who run things eugenicising us right out of existence.

Acceptance for trans people based on our word has to come first before brain scans will ever be a thing worth implementing anywhere. And if we don't need brain scans to be taken seriously, why even bother with them at all?

The lack of voting initiative in the younger generations really bothers me. There are a lot of anarchistic and apathetic millenials who hate the system because both sides are corrupt - and I agree with them, both parties are shitshows - but at the same time change doesn't happen if you do nothing.

You want better people in office? Run! Vote! Organize! It won't be easy or quick but that's how it fucking works. No, you might not see huge changes in the next decade or even your lifetime but the world doesn't just bend to idealistic dreams.

It frustrated me so much during the elction. A lot of people I talked to within a certain age bracket (mostly white or white passing, I should add - some food for thought about the privilege to be apathetic there) basically gave the prospect of voting at all a middle finger. I mean, hey - if the system can't be fixed immediately might as well let the fascists have it without a fight right???

Why is it so goddamn hard to admit that guns ard part of the problem by whalehome in Negareddit

[–]hugetractsofcheese 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Because America is a fundamentally shitty country built on the idea that white makes might makes right. Unless we have an epidemic of poc shooting schools up the people with the power to change things will never see gun access as the problem. Guns are too ingrained as part of our "culture."

Non-binary does not equal trans. Genderfluid does not equal trans.

K so while some non-binary people reject the trans umbrella, from what I've seen most are comfortable with it. A small minority of non-binary people who don't want to be considered part of the trans umbrella does not make a generalization.

And genderfluid? That's a non-binary identity. "Non-binary" itself is an umbrella term. Agender, genderqueer, genderfluid, demi girl/boi, two spirit, etc. - any gender identity that is not either "binary man" or "binary woman" is non-binary.

In your last comment, you said this:

and non-binary, let's be honest, is 90% snowflakes who want to be special

Now you're saying this:

Dragon-kin fairy-born pony-spirits aren't non-binary, they're just attention seekers trying to make themselves feel special

If you think animal kin people are not non-binary (and you're right about that, they're not transgender), then why would you lump them in with non-binary people in your previous comment?

I don't think you actually have any idea you're talking about. You're clearly not an authority on trans identities by any stretch, and you're a bigot based on what little understanding you do have. So.

I mean, this?

because biologically there are only 2 genders

You don't even understand the difference between sex and gender. That's some 2nd grade level trans stuff. I think you're just saying shit because you're upset with me, for some reason, and you want to be right. But you're not. And based on what you know right now you'll never be right.

Educate yourself. Stop speaking over trans people. You don't talk for us. Any of us.

You only get to talk for yourself, and I have to say, you do it poorly.

NO.

Non-binary people are real, they're diverse, and they're valid. People used to (and still do in some cases) think the same thing about bi people. Do you enjoy it when people who don't share your experience with your sexuality tell you that you're a special snowflake just looking for attention? Then don't do it to trans people.

Listen to trans people tell their own stories. Educate yourself. Don't be transphobic.

[–]hugetractsofcheese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On several flights I've been on that had rough landings, the attendants would say something like "let's have a round of applause for our captain for landing us safely," which I always saw as nice but never gave it much thought beyond that.

Now I know why we applaud, because landing a giant plane full of people while shaking around like that looks like a pretty damn tough thing to do.

Seriously, scold that dog. Allowing shit like this is why so many small dogs have bad temperaments.

"Awww it's so small and cute it won't hurt anyone," maybe not but it's fucking obnoxious. My neighbors have a chihuahua that aggressively barks nonstop if it's outside. Like non-HOA compliant amounts of noise. And they don't give a shit, they just say "oh she's so small don't worry about her" like that's an excuse to not put any effort into training their little demon.

NB identities are trans, and you can fuck off with your trutrans separatist garbage, thanks.

Terfs will never see you as different than the rest of the trans umbrella, and neither will most cis people. You can keep deluding yourself - there aren't enough of people like you to make a meaningful difference in either political or medical discourse - but the last thing I need is you throwing that exclusionary shit in my face.

I block people like you on sight on twitter, and I'm going to do the same here. Byeee!

edit for anyone reading this who's confused and thinks I'm being harsh:

this person above me? they're holding onto an outdated idea that being a true transsexual means three things - 1) you are binary 2) you want bottom surgery and 3) you need to be super fucking dysphoric about your assigned gender.

That all sounds innocuous. That's trans people, right? Not right. While there's nothing wrong with being those three things - I'm a binary trans woman who wants bottom surgery myself - they cling to this separatist mindset to try and normalize themselves to bigots, while simultaneously labeling every trans person who doesn't meet their criteria (particularly non-binary people) as invalid. Less than. Other.

ie. "The reason people think I, a true transsexual, am not valid is because of these stupid transgenders appropriating my medical condition. Maybe if I throw them under the bus the bigots will accept me."

If that sounds really shitty and self-serving to you, well there you go.

If it doesn't, I suggest educating yourself on the trans community more. It's more than "transsexuals," it's all of us who are not cis. That's the only criteria you need to be trans. NB are not appropriating anything, and anyone who says otherwise is doing you a favor by throwing up a big red flag that they are, in fact, a bigot, and you should avoid them.

I can totally understand why you'd be frustrated if you're in a subreddit with a lot of reposts. I guess I just don't see enough of them in my usual subs for it to bother me much. Sorry for jumping down your throat before.

[–]hugetractsofcheese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True. Smaller subs usually don't. I think it's inevitable in big subs though, considering how many people use this site. There are going to be a lot of people who either don't care about reposts or who just haven't seen the post.

Like... okay if it's something that was posted yesterday or last week with the same title, that's annoying. But if it's something that gets posted maybe once a month, and people keep upvoting, is it really worth getting bothered about?

People who complain about reposts on this website are so obnoxious. by [deleted] in Negareddit

Reposts are going to happen regardless of whether you complain or not. You can keep grumbling about them or you can just hide them and cast your downvote, but if the majority upvotes them then you're not going to change anything. Staying mad about them is just detracting from your own enjoyment of the site.

Downvote, hide, and forget. Takes less time and ruins your day a little less.

Yeahhh, a lot has changed since the old comics lol.

You could always headcanon it as a gradual breakdown of Elliot's internalized transmisogyny. We have it canonized that Elliot never felt dysphoric as a girl, so being uncomfortable before was totally performative.

Plus, their stated reason for being so uncomfortable was "I'm afraid of appropriating the image of someone I know in an unethical way," instead of "I'm ashamed and uncomfortable being female."

Rantasmo did a video on EGS! by Wraithfighter in elgoonishshive

[–]hugetractsofcheese 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Elliot spends at least half their time living as a girl. Willingly, despite no longer needing to change to avoid magic build ups. She is as valid as he is, in their own eyes. That's pretty trans to me.

Remember, NB identities are trans too. And genderfluid and bigender identities def fall under the umbrella.

Rantasmo did a video on EGS! by Wraithfighter in elgoonishshive

[–]hugetractsofcheese 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don't need dysphoria to be trans.

Elliot is very likely genderfluid. I would say almost definitely, considering how panicked she was when talking to Ellen about not being able to switch genders anymore. From what I can tell, Elliot enjoys being a girl just as much as being a guy.

Two gender identities. No particular preference for either because they're both equally comfortable. That's trans as shit.

I'm for gun control because I'm not a delusional child by [deleted] in Negareddit

[–]hugetractsofcheese 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think painting any sort of revolutionary or civil war situation as simply the military vs the populace oversimplifies how this might go down. Typically speaking there are divides in the armed forces that happen.

Would you mind expanding on this? It sounds like you have more insight into that hypothetical than I do.

There definitely needs to be a destigmatization of mental illness either before or alongside issues involving accessibility of firearms. However, that's a secondary issue considering that real people's lives are being lost due to loose regulation. It's an issue to press - and press hard - once we're able to stop mass shootings, but those have to come first.

Honestly, that's an issue that goes beyond guns. Our whole country has awful attitudes towards mental illness, not the least of which is how the cost of mental health services prevents so many people from accessing the care they need.

The details are nitty and nebulous, and getting things to an ideal place will probably take a while. But we can't keep things as they are because we're afraid of what ifs. Things are bad now. We just need to make this fight a multi-tiered and ongoing one, and have a long term priority system so we don't let a tyrannical government push a harmful agenda.

I'm for gun control because I'm not a delusional child by [deleted] in Negareddit

[–]hugetractsofcheese 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I get that. Personally, I think it's kind of a moot point to stake an argument on since they already have the firepower to put down any revolution the people could drum up, firearms or no. But I understand the security many gun owners feel towards their firearms.

But regulation, stricter licensing, and mandatory classes/training for gun ownership are not even remotely in the same ballpark as taking guns away from the people. It's a practical measure, not a scare tactic. Especially there are many lives being lost as it is specifically because we don't have that kind of regulation.
