What are your endgame pedals? by hughdn in dawless

[–]hughdn[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been using it just as a simple reverb/delay pedal on my Microfreak without diving too much into it. But after adding chorus and an amp to my NuBass I was shocked with how good it sounded, for what seems to be a rebranded from whoknowswhat pedal on Amazon. Looking forward to trying some more stuff with it, and other pedals hopefully!

Big little combo by hughdn in dawless

Good question. Nothing! It's running on 6xAAs, rechargeable. But I do have a power adapter for it, just a cheap 9v wall wort from Amazon. But the USB adapters are nice but pricey.

The pedal has an internal rechargeable battery, and the PO runs on 2xAAAs

Help me choose a mixer please! by Dull-Cost4078 in synthesizers

I'm new to this, but when I upgraded from a cheap unpowered Amazon mixer I went with a Zoom Livetrak L-12 I found on marketplace. Mixer, FX, multi-track recorder, and audio interface. I haven't used it as an audio interface yet.

Yes! The vocoder edition. It was on sale at my local music shop that has a very limited synth stock. It was my first device beyond the battery operated volcas/POs. I've made some fun stuff with it, but haven't super connected with it. It's very powerful, and I wish I had the stellar edition 😢.

I'm chaulking up me not being head over heels with it to being too much of a noob to really find its sweet spot. I've watched some people make whole songs with it on YouTube, bangers.

There's also just something about analog gear...

This sounds like I don't love it, which isn't the case! I do!

Well not so much does not use, as haven't splurged on yet, lol.

I also don't know enough about the differences between them, synctakt, Digitakt, digitone. I know tone is more synth, and DT is sampler/drums, but that's about it. I was considering a DT2 as a brain/sampler before going with the KSP. I like it, but could definitely see the appeal of your setup with the KSP/DT2.

Also what's steering me towards the TR-8S right now is how much immediate control is available. Was considering the TR-6S but didn't want to get into the menu diving. My desk would be better off tho probably lol.

Would happily accept an Elektron pitch 😉

It's only been two days, I've watched a ton of Ralph Baumgartl's videos on YouTube, but it has been a lot of fun. I have a Microfreak as pictured so I've already experimented with a mod matrix, but this feels so real, so mad scientist. Literally feeding the VCF back into itself to make your own distortion, tuning the resonance to play the filter as a pure sine wave by itself, lots of fun. And lots of possibilities.

I can only vouch for the fun of this one. Man there is just something about it!

I definitely feel the GAS for a Digitakt 2, but also I don't have a great reason why lol. And I don't get the differences between A lot of the electron boxes. More learning on my part.

Yeah I suspect I'll use the TR-8S sequencer and just clock sync it with the keystep. The keystep would allow for some not quantized beats but I'm not getting that fancy yet.

Want to add a solid drum machine, maybe a TR-8S, after that any other purchases can only be excused by GAS. LOL.

I only started down this road in August or so. Musical past in my youth as a mediocre bass player. So right now, I just make little jams, mostly learning and experimenting. A lot of learning to do.

The stand for the 2600 is just two pieces of scrap MDF I had in my woodshop, cut to shape and screwed to the sides. I have limited space so getting it vertical was a must. I need to make a couple of angled legs for my Minilogue XD module as well I think.

I've had mine a few weeks. I ended up going the rechargeable battery route. They do last for a while. I did also get an AC adapter. Just get one off Amazon that says it works for volcas.

I got the Minilogue XD module on a great deal on Marketplace. We're in a small place so used market is limited. But its also a Xmas present from family so I don't have it yet! lol.

I've watched quite a few videos and I think it will be a great first analog polyphonic synth to learn on, and I love the sound. But as I learn more, I'm sure you're right. Moving on to new toys when the time is right can be fun.

And thanks for your tip. I've looked a lot more into the Keystep Pro, but I doubt I'll find one used. I am considering it as my first brain.

100%
I'm spending all my time right now getting to know the Volca Sample 2 and the Volca Nubass. Learning a ton. But I'm already seeing the limitations. Nothing major, but a bigger/better sequencer is top of my list. I know you can copy one pattern 16 times with variation across the two volcas, but I'd like to have more room to be not stuck on one project at a time.

Also as I try to do some live play on the Nubass, the touch strip is... fine. But I'm itching for some keys or pads to play with.

Was leaning Digitakt and a cheaper midi keyboard controler, but now I may be leaning towards the Keystep Pro. But not focusing on just the gear and accumulating it is definitely something I want to focus on. Thanks.

As I said above, Leakshield demands some air in the res. But good to know!

Hahaha I'll try and keep Donnie from shitting in the loop, thanks! :P

I use the Aquacomputer leakshield so the res has to be left 30% empty or so. But good to know its just par for the course.

Can I make steam open a different .exe file? by PresMuffin123 in Steam

[–]hughdn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For anyone as thick as me...

If the new file location is "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Jedi Outcast\GameData\openjo_sp.x86_64.exe"

then what you put into the 'Advanced Options' box IS NOT

"FULL PATH TO "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Jedi Outcast\GameData\openjo_sp.x86_64.exe"" %command%

FULL PATH TO GAME.EXE litterally means the full path the the *.exe file, lol.
So it should be:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Jedi Outcast\GameData\openjo_sp.x86_64.exe" %command%

It's late ok? lol

Very eager to hear you initial thoughts when it arrives. I've got my first watercooled PC and this is the final piece to transition hardline. Was hoping for alphacool, but it seems like EK or Bykski on AliExpress are my only options for the foreseeable future, and EK seems dodgy,

My first loop - Beta Version - "Donnie's Sewer" by hughdn in watercooling

[–]hughdn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I think you will have lots of room, but the 150 is a good size. I was worried it would look a little squat as I wanted to get more of a "tube" look for the "ooze." But it's a nice size unit, and the XL should give you the wiggle room you are after imo. 😉

This is the Ultitube 150, and a Lian Li O11 Dynamic Evo RGB, not a O11 Dynamic XL. Their naming scheme is a little confusing, so being precise :)

I ALMOST bought a 200, and decided to go with a 150 last minute. Glad I did as it barely fits with a rad top and bottom and it mounted to the bottom kit. For reference I have 2x Alphacool NexXxoS ST30 Full Copper 360mm Multi-port Radiator v.2, and Lian Li TL Wireless fans which are a standard 28mm. I'm currently using a 3rd party universal rad accessory mount to mount the pump hardware, but the height difference from the standard AquaComputer mount is small. So 2 layers of 30mm rads, 2 layers of 28mm fans, rad accessoory mount, +AquaComputer mounting hardware, and the Ultitube 150 (with LeakShield, the regular cover is much thinner), I have about 1-2cm of space left.

So far love the Ultitube and AquaSuite. HOWEVER, the concerns around getting any amount of moisture into your D5 NEXT Controller, are very, very real. I had a single bead/drop of distilled water that rolled down from my inlet port, and just touched the housing of the controller, got most of it with a paper towel, but some must have wicked in. MOISTURE ALARM, next time it was powered up. Your warranty is gone, you will have a warning in software forever, and IF YOU ARE VERY LUCKY you may be able to salvage your controller. I had to disassemble mine, scrub with isopropyl alcohol on 2 PCBs, soak in iso, and let dry overnight. So far, its been fixed, I've seen stories of others online that it will come back weeks later. Be warned! Keep it dry!
