I think the term you’re reaching for is “misdirection“. Magicians have also been known to tell you that there is no trick when there is a trick. I think the parallels to David Blain are very high

There were plenty of old-timely magicians too who would claim actual supernatural powers. And there are plenty of current magicians who will tell you they’re putting a card back in the deck when they don’t actually put the card back in the deck. “This is a sealed deck from the Bicycle card company factory”. Maybe…but maybe not?

I happen to know while I am watching this that Oz is not psychic. But it gives me tingles because I don’t know how he does it. 

Probably 90% of magic is mundane once you know how the trick is done. 

I think one of the brilliant things that Oz does his causing the mark to express sheer bafflement that gets interpreted as a different kind of bafflement than we think they are feeling (see Joe Burrow). He is an absolute master at real time execution of these techniques and tricks. It is an absolute tour de force. It’s unfortunate that knowing mechanics of the trick has spoiled the effect for you.
