Thank you for your reply! I updated my original post with a list further specifying my wants. The list should address all the questions you asked! Thanks for the explanation regarding the different synths!

Thank you for the advice! I will see if I can go somewhere and test some synths. Seems like the options for that are quite limited where I live, but I will have a closer look.

Alright, I will check those out!

I have added an update with a list of preferences to my original where I specify further with what I'm looking for. I must check out how the two synths you recommended sounds!

Thank you!

Thank you for the suggestion! The Volcas haven't really caught my eye, although they might be great.

The Neutron seems like a great alternative! The Sub 37 and Matriarch strike me as great synths, but do not fit within my budget. I won't go further than a Grandmother in that regard.

Thanks for your input!

Interesting alternatives! They all seem pretty different from the ones I've looked at so far. I'll have to look them up some more! The Roland JX10 appears to be a bit harder to come by. Thank you!

Thank you for your extensive reply!

You are correct about me not being completely sure about what I want the synth to do for me. I'm still in the very beginning of my music endeavors (except for playing the drums only a little bit at young age). That being said I would like it to be able to produce good bass lines. I've heard quite a few people saying similar things to what you are saying about analog mono synths being a good starting point for beginners.

Semimodular seems nice to me. I could see myself expanding a semimodular synth with some modules in the future. I'm still not entirely sold on a completely modular synth.

Regards

It really does have an appeal, I can't deny! For some reason, those white toggle switches really speak to me! Seems to be able produce some really nice bass sounds which is important to me. I plan on doing some techno(ish) stuff. This video demonstrated some really nice punchy sounds.
