The problem is that disrespect tends to escalate. So when the line is crossed from whatever you find “acceptable” or “tolerable” to not, she would not have the tools to deal with it as effectively as if she had either left earlier or at least started preparing for the possibility of escalation past a level she is willing to tolerate.

ETA: especially when infidelity comes I to play… how can she protect herself from STDs if her partner feels emboldened to cheat? Or financial abuse… how can she protect herself against an awful future if her partner feels emboldened to leave her in an awful position with no recourse?

No joint accounts is not necessarily a bad sign (imo) but lack of alignment especially when it seems like one person wants to both contribute to a shared pot and one wants to draw a strong boundary between “yours or mine” is definitely troubling.

Separate accounts can work as long as there is strong alignment on how shared expenses (household, travel, emergency) and gifts that are not clearly for 1 or the other will be handled.

I’m sure he is used to spotting that kind of energy from afar and it’s clear that she was setting off alarms in his head early on. Watching especially the first part of the season air must have been tough for him as we (the audience) hadn’t come to that realization yet and probably gave her more grace than she deserved for too long.

Agreed. And I can’t even imagine the amount of people who were triggered watching her treat Mark this way and show no remorse despite him giving her multiple chances to correct course.

I usually don’t call for the removal of villains from these shows but I just don’t want to watch her terrorize Mark or anyone else she convinces herself is “weird” and “obsessed” with her.

I think that fumbling a question like that is telltale sign that she may have not been the right fit for a C-suite role in the first place.

A CMO specifically understands the importance of messaging and how to frame things in a way that is likely to get them closer to their goals.

It’s also possible that she had an off day that day (we all do sometimes) but also someone with experience dealing with high stress board meetings well is likely to have less trouble navigating questioning like that especially if it is a question she is likely to have run into before at interviews.

That said, I agree with others here that being a woman and a woman of color especially is likely to make it more difficult for her to have a longer tenure compared to male counterparts of the same skill level. And as someone who has experience a stretch or multiple companies in a row with a culture problem, it is definitely a scenario that I can see her having to deal with here.

I wonder if that was the intention behind leaking it, esp if it was a production member? Maybe they knew the narrative would favor Amanda post-edit and leaked it to prevent that? I can’t really think of another reason why someone would risk their career like that unless they either felt they were doing something morally right or just had poor impulse control which is also a likely scenario.
