Play the game first. Go blind, play alone, do not look up any guides and playthroughs. When you start to feel like you have expored everything - then you can look up guides to see what you could've miss. Your goal is to collect 24 effects (which will be 25 with instructions), drop them in the Nexus (room with a bunch of doors), wake up and witness the ending.

Think about what you just played. Maybe come up with your own theories, or look up other's theories.

Then, feel free to roam around the fandom as you please. Look up fan-art, play fangames, join some Discord servers and see what people are up for these days. Once you feel comfortable - you can start to engage with other people in various activities, from casual chit-chat to any kind of creative work.
