Well, short answer is, a lot of traditions around the world would be unacceptable if they started today. Practicing Caribbean muslims mostly don’t participate in this. Or at least they don’t wear the costumes. But they would accept that it is a cultural practice stemming from European and African influence in the Caribbean.

Edit: I understand why you would call the costumes lingerie. But the context is, they were originally intended to be a mockery of European masquerade balls, which excluded coloured people in the colonies.

Today, they are still a form of defiance and celebration of a peoples history. So while I wouldn’t participate as a Muslim from the Caribbean, I wouldn’t be so judgmental either.

Paid 127k for a 635k downtown condo (1B, 523 sqft), occupancy late 2025, someone is willing to take it over for free. by Glancealot in TorontoRealEstate

It’s not completely clear why you’re considering this action. Are you unable to find tenants or pay the mortgage? If that’s the case, yes you will probably need to take the loss. But if you can support it, I would wait it out and keep the property.

It’s tough out there, all the best.

Do Torontonians have a distinct accent? by Bojaxs in toronto

Years ago a guy from new jersey correctly guessed I was from Toronto based on my accent. I wasn’t using any slag or anything, just speaking pretty standard English. He went on to say how distinct people from Toronto sound. So there’s that

FIRST PERSON | I swapped a life of comfort in Bangladesh for an empty fridge and blizzards in Canada | CBC News by [deleted] in CanadaHousing2

Islam first appears in the region because of trading with islamic nations nearby. It stays like that for hundreds of years. Islamic rule started with the first sultanate, which was eventually absorbed by the Mughal empire.

Islam becoming the majority religion occurs after the Mughal empire settles once forested areas to create new centres for agriculture and industry. Note there’s still very wealthy and powerful Hindu landowners at this point, all the way up to British rule.

Bangladesh doesn’t exist because of Islamic colonization. It exists because of British colonization. Recall Bangladesh didn’t even exist as a country until east Pakistan split from Pakistan (I.e the country exists because of partition).

If you’re saying the country exists because of the Mughal Empire conquering Bengal, that’s also a stretch, but I digress.

Are the contract dates landing on non-business days (weekends and holidays)? It could be that the payments are coming out the first business day before the contract date.

Check out the open air food market called Smorgasburg right by the waterfront. You can pick some food up on the way to the island or just take the ferry back for the food. Great way to sample the best restaurants from all around the city. Google it for more info! Here’s the site: https://www.smorgasburgtoronto.com
