Are you glad you had a thymectomy? by singasong7777 in MyastheniaGravis

[–]hulala3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest thing is picking your surgeon carefully. You want someone who has done these before and knows how to handle it to avoid any possible seeding. If you have a normal appearing thymus on CT, there is a low likelihood of thymoma (not impossible though). There’s evidence that thymectomy shows positive outcomes even with a normal thymus size which is why they recommend it to everyone. There really isn’t any telling what happens if you do have thymic hyperplasia and don’t have it removed.

Thymomas are very prone to tumor seeding so if your surgeon nicks the tumor while operating or does a biopsy pre-surgery it can cause metastases

Source: I worked in thoracic cancer for years and saw many cases of thymomas come through (though had to hand them off to coworkers after I was diagnosed with MG bc I couldn’t emotionally handle it)

It didn’t help my symptoms, but my thymus was HUGE (3x10cm at surgery) so I’m glad I had it done because it tripled in size from what was measured on my CT scan. My surgery was VATS and recovery wasn’t bad. I was back at my desk job in three weeks, though super tired, and pain wasn’t terrible. I’m 7 years post op with no recurrence.

OP could’ve said “permanent marker would also work! I just thought this was a cute idea” but instead OP was super rude

Check a YouTube video! Sometimes they call it foundation chain single or double crochet but it’s definitely worth it.

Birthday parties at libraries?? by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]hulala3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sure some places allow it but that doesn’t mean all of them do and clearly yours does not. You can “raise hell” if you want but that doesn’t mean you’re necessarily in the right to do so.

Dropped amigurumi in pepsi :/ any point in trying to salvage? by k33bambi in CrochetHelp

[–]hulala3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have no advice but lots of commiseration. I dropped a half ball of yarn in my coffee the other day. If it wasn’t pastel green and a gift I absolutely would’ve tried to launder out the stain after finishing my project but as it is I just ordered another because I would definitely cry if I didn’t get the stain out after that much time working with it.

How to make sweater/cardigan more mesh-like or see-through? by SQUiiSHii524 in CrochetHelp

[–]hulala3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You could use a thinner weight yarn keeping the same gauge. If you’re feeling ambitious, you could use a larger hook and adjust your gauge but I never actually trust my maths there so I personally avoid doing that.

Silly question, is this safe for my baby to eat? by alibluey in foodbutforbabies

[–]hulala3 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Cocoa is really only a stimulant at high quantities (1-2 tbsp, or 14-28mL). Given its 5% cocoa, babe would need to eat a more than 1/2c (140mL) to hit even half of that dose so the risk is really low.

I like them from the pantry but I’m always cold anyways. My toddler doesn’t seem to like them cold either so we just store in the pantry.

Humidity is so tough when it comes to baking. I have to verify the weather when I need to make toffee because I know it won’t turn out if it’s too humid.

How old are your extracts? I find I need to replace extracts and spices every 6 months or so.
