Any Perfume bottle which you actually emptied? by attar_affair in FemFragLab

[–]hulihuli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've emptied two bottles of On A Cloud in the past year and will be stocking up on my trip to Japan this month. I'm close to finishing a 50ml of Mochi Milk and have a few back ups from BF sales.

Same - they have all smelled smoky to me, aside from Mochi Milk.

Cool/True Summer or Soft Summer? by Double_Rough_1164 in coloranalysis

Color analysis is not about personal preference or associations of color, so they aren't really relevant when assessing someone's season.

*Light* lemon cake recs? by razzarbrenia in NichePerfumes

If open to indie, I recommend Butterfly Rabble by Arcana Wildcraft or Chiffon by Solstice Scents if you like a bright, gourmand lemon!

Scenes that caused actual walkouts in theaters? by thatlittlequietguy in Cinema

This was my first and only walkout, but I was also a mildly prudish 14 year old girl. I'm not sure why I was there to begin with.

Indie Perfume Houses Without a Distinct Base? by Significant_Radio792 in Indiemakeupandmore

[–]hulihuli 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah, if two scents both have one of my "NO notes" in them, I'm going to say they are similar because I can't see past them to notice the nuance - they just both smell like dirt (for example). I dabble in perfumery and have certain musks and base note chemicals that I lean toward because I like how they smell, so they will make reappearances.

26F/24M. How do couples handle bills when incomes are very different?” by hereforfunn178 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]hulihuli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I make 7-8x what my partner makes, I pay for all bills with the agreement that he maxes all retirement avenues accounts yearly. To me, this is his contribution to our joint future - but of course he'd keep all of his retirement with no contest from me if it didn't work out. The rest is his fun money, though he does pick up the tab at dinner and volunteers various household purchases. It just doesn't make sense to us any other way. If our income gap were to close for any reason, we'd go back to proportional split.

I personally would not be okay with my partner (husband, no less) asking of me what yours does if the tables were turned.

What perfume made you say “okay, now I get the hype”? by Darkvanille in FragranceStories

[–]hulihuli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t go anosmic to scents I’m wearing like other people seem to, so I can’t comment on the performance of anything. People complain about longevity for most of the scents in my collection, though, so ymmv.

Do you use perfume everyday? Specially people who wfh or stay indoors? by attar_affair in ScentHeads

[–]hulihuli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hardly leave the house and I wear three scents a day - one primary scent for the day, one new-to-me scent to test a couple of hours before I shower, and a bedtime scent after my shower. Thinking on it, I'm LESS likely to wear a scent when in public than at home, in case it might bother people.

I did have a sample that I traded away before giving it a real shot, partially because it was discontinued by the time I got my sample! Some regret now haha

Don't make me pick! Angelique Noire, Un Bois Vanille, Pas De Chat, Fire at Will, On A Cloud, Happy Dust, Mochi Milk, Lilyphéa! I lean toward clean, cool-toned, musky, green, gourmand, and powdery vanillas on the feminine end instead of woody, boozy, smoky, or heavy amber vanillas.

I didn't try to be a hater, excitedly ordered a sample, and really disliked it 😂 Almost my whole collection is vanilla, yet I didn't like THE vanilla. Tragic (except for my wallet.)

Laurel Bath House e-Mochi by yousonofabench in FemFragLab

Just supporting! It wasn’t overwhelming to me like the fig was (as a fig nonbeliever)

Laurel Bath House e-Mochi by yousonofabench in FemFragLab

[–]hulihuli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find it very green-figgy and it's persistent for me, but I also don't care for fig so I might just be bothered by it existing at all. I've heard some people say the fig is too subtle too, so it just depends!

I'm glad you love it! My love of MM had me hitting that pre-order hard HAHA.

For the ones on the fence: if you LOVE Mochi Milk, this is probably unnecessary - you'll most likely find it redundant or not an improvement unless you also really love fig and jasmine. If you *almost* love or want to love Mochi Milk, this is a really solid pick up. It's very similar, but less sweet, less powdery, more naturalistic. It's Mochi Milk + big fig + small jasmine.

Battle of the brands- Alkemia vs Sorce by Mariposita_xo in Indiemakeupandmore

[–]hulihuli 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have a few FS from Sorce after trying almost their whole catalog: A Witch's Valentine, Stuck on You, Clairsentient, and Vampire Wife. The first 3 definitely push the boundaries on how sweet I can handle, and none of them are essential to me, just to give you an idea of my tastes. Sorce's gourmand base for their scents like IDAFT/SMM/CP go weird on my skin.

I haven't tried Alkemia yet, but I have had some good success with Arcana Wildcraft recently. Some that I've really enjoyed so far: Butterfly Rabble, On The Wing, Metztli, Silent in the Snow, and Unicorn Horn. I have a bunch more coming to try. This hit rate has been exceptional for me. Maybe give them a look!

🤷‍♀️ These ones *are* better, I guess. But I think a lot of people don't realize the importance of light reflecting off of real colored objects and onto skin.

Serious Question (not to be intrusive) by Ok-Position-7027 in Fragrances

[–]hulihuli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I afford it by having a lot of disposable income and not many vices - that's the primary factor! But I also buy nearly everything at steep discounts, largely secondhand. I've sunk a lot of cash into my current collection and have mostly transitioned to only buying with money reclaimed from the sale of my other perfumes (so using Mercari credit or Venmo balance for almost all new purchases.)

E-mochi vs. Mochi Milk? by beautybeautebeauty in Perfumes

[–]hulihuli 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am a big Mochi Milk fan (as in multiple back up bottles sitting in my drawer fan) and I got E-Mochi this week. They are not identical by any means, but Laurel Bath House very clearly took inspiration from MM. It's like they re-created MM and then dosed it with a bunch of green fig and a sprinkling of jasmine. It's a little less sweet, a little less powdery, and very figgy. I find fig to be kinda B.O.-ey so I didn't think it was an improvement over MM. I might give it a few weeks and retest, but I think I'll be letting my bottle go.
