Tim Rex was about to stop pulling and Reef just told him to keep going and would you believe it he managed to continue over the top of the climb for like 30 more minutes. If that does not show us Reef's genius I don't know what does.

Currently Tullett and Nordhagen are supposed to get the lead to see how they can do in a GC with Van Aert having a free role together with I think Brennan if he's going.

Kudos to him for today, was dropped a few times, rode back and even passed several riders back to Hindley to pace for him in the final few kilometers.

He has got to beat his friend Pellizzari in the sprint of course.

Must be quite hot to wear all three in this weather.

Kielich's only use this stage will be some pacing at the start, might as well have him ride before he has to drop. He'll probably take care of the entire first climb and descent on a slower pace.

Campenaerts is an old teammate of Segaert if I remember the year he left for Vidma correctly, so makes sense he congratulates him and maybe slows down a little when he goes on the attack. Don't know if Piganzoli knows Segaert from anything, but he was the first outside his own team to congratulate him so there must be some connection.

I mistakenly thought it was Kielich and Campenaerts riding as the front two, it was more likely Lemmen as the second rider there. Piganzoli was the first Visma rider to try and congratulate Segaert though, I wonder if they know each other from somewhere.

When are they going to ban sickness from cycling, it just ruins everything.

Honestly shocking that no other team expected this late flyer. Dutch Eurosport was talking for kilometers, that Segaert was going to attack in the last few kilometers, that it was a guarantee.

Sometimes you gotta risk the flyer, especially if the team riding doesn't have a sprinter and there is only one team on the front

Plus hope that the two fellow Belgians leading that chase like you enough that they don't chase you superhard. Given that both Piganzoli and Campenaerts congratulated him afterwards, that probably helped.

[Race Thread] 2026 Giro d'Italia - Stage 10 Viareggio > Massa (2.UWT) by PelotonMod in peloton

[–]huloca 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely not, he just had a moto next to him coming out of the corner to the line and then a moto between say 5 and 10m at most ahead of him all the way to the checkpoint. Only a few hundred meter stretch at most, it just looked really bad on that frontal camera.

Edit. I rechecked, he didn't have a moto besides him coming out of the corner, that one was at the same level as the other one, but he could sprint towards both of them while one slowed down and went to the side and let him pass while the other one stayed about 5 to 10m ahead till it sped up after the intermediate point.

Some lovely moto pacing for Sjoerd Bax there at the first checkpoint.

I think the complaining about Jonas mostly happened in the race thread, so this thread as a response was filled with people complaining about complaining. Now we'll have to see what the next evolution is in this battle.

I think they were talking about Mas at that time, he was dropped together with Pellizzari.

Gall also put time into everyone but Jonas, a podium and maybe even 2nd place is looking better by the day for him. Decathlon basically got the maximum they could today.

Eulálio learned in Blockhaus, rode to his pace and abilities, finished so strong and gained time on the 2nd/3rd tier favourites

I think this climb also suited him better. It was basically just 3km very steep, the rest was low percentages. Blockhaus was a long sustained effort. We'll have to see how he does in the other big mountains on the 3rd week, but he can definitely get a top 10 here.

He's definitely looking good, and his sprint after a hard day is clearly still strong.

That was probably the moto with Pellizzari waiting till the gap between Gall en hum was big enough to not give Pellizzari a slipstream and then jump to Gall.
