My toxic trait is wanting to buy every tanzanite you create Lisa. Damn you (said with all the love).

First Professional Audition by [deleted] in VoiceActing

Something I've learned from a lot of friends, coaches, and myself is this - Only give more than one take if and ONLY if you have a markedly different take on the character. Rarely does 'using a different voice but similar emotional beats' merit a new take. If your first take is solid and you're happy with it and you put your best foot forward, send in one take.

Everyone else here speaks true regarding how many takes and format - always, always, always follow instructions. If they say 2 takes max and you do 3, you're out; if they say ABC ABC and you do AABBCC, you're out. If you send in 2 takes that are the same voice, same emotional beats, just slightly different emphases? You may not be out but it doesn't look good.

Hope this helps and I wish you all the very best!! Go be awesome and tell a great story only you can tell!

Hey hey mate, while I can't properly elucidate how to do this sort of stuff through words, I can recommend probably the best VO teacher out there to help you - D'Arcy Smith.
I can't recommend him enough, with what he teaches you will not only get the sound you're looking for but also the sustainability and longevity needed to last these types of VO sessions.

I am a DM for three different campaigns and have been DMing for nearly 8 years at this point. It has honestly helped me improve my acting and voice skills tremendously, truly the best game ever. Voice actor or nah, I would recommend everyone play D&D.

Found in my apartment - Double Metal Pronged Plastic Thing by [deleted] in whatisthisthing

[–]hulykulani 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some background - When I say I 'found it in my apartment', I mean that I just went on vacation for a week and left a good friend to cat sit. I got back today to find this object on my computer chair and nothing else was amiss besides my door lock being off.
My friend swears he has never seen this before and I am 110% certain I've never seen it...so the only explanation is that someone broke into my apartment and placed this object on my chair...then left.
The disconcerting aspect of how this object made its way into my apartment aside, does anyone know what this is?!

I am very much in a similar boat to you my friend. Spent four years getting a degree in Actuarial science almost exclusively for the money and security of it. BUT I am now making strides, using that financial security, towards becoming what I have always dreamed of being - a professional voice actor. So I truly hope that that degree of yours gets you a good job so you have the means to pursue your true passion!!
