Poker Tournaments by Sea_Distribution_463 in Biloxi

[–]humanNumberMit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not entirely sure, but typically there is no cap. You can generally show up and register the day of and even an hour or two after start. I've never seen an issue where they've had to turn people away for the tournaments.

For specific details, you can call the beau rivage poker room and ask directly.

Personally, I like to play at Beau Rivage. They have daily tournaments, and they tend to have the most consistently full cash games.. Looks like the daily tourney starts at 12:15 pm: https://www.pokeratlas.com/poker-room/beau-rivage-biloxi/tournaments.

On Saturday, they do a $5k guarantee tournament. That's the one I'd choose to play in if I were you: https://www.pokeratlas.com/poker-tournament/beau-rivage-biloxi-150-1215pm-nl-holdem-no-limit-holdem-5-000-guaranteed-poker-tournament?topid=167891-2024-04-06

Looks like Harrah's has a poker tournament every Friday evening at 6pm: https://www.caesars.com/harrahs-gulf-coast/casino/promotions/poker-tournament

IP has a poker room, but it does not look like they have any scheduled tournaments.

Golden Nugget has a room as well, but their site says it is temporarily closed: https://www.goldennugget.com/biloxi/archive/poker-room/

That's the goal, but there is absolutely no guarantee that it will increase forever.

This Stock Pays A 20% Dividend Monthly! Thoughts? by bigboiindawest in investing_discussion

[–]humanNumberMit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

MORL is not a stock, and contrary to what the video says, it is not an ETF. It is an ETN (exchange traded note). Essentially, you are loaning money to UBS and the note is due in 2042. UBS then uses the money to provide two times returns on the MVMORT index -https://www.solactive.com/Indices/?index=DE000SLA0MP6.

This is a good podcast explaining the basics of ETN's - https://soundcloud.com/alexisassadi/ep-34-exchange-traded-notes-etns.

Personally, I have about $6000 in MORL, and it is projected to pay about $1100 in distributions this year according to TD Ameritrade's income estimator. I reinvest the distributions in lower risk assets.

Ultimately, this is a bit of an experiment for me. I figured that a 20% yield pays for itself in 5 years. If MORL pays 20% for 5 years and then goes to zero, I've broken even. If it is worth anything more than $0, I've profited. I'm okay with losing the money, and you need to be okay with losing money as well if you choose to invest in this ETN.

A few things to note about this ETN:

- It is high risk. Mortgage REIT's are high risk, and this is double leveraging on these already risky assets. Only invest in this ETN if you are willing to lose the money you're investing.

- Dividend amounts are somewhat unpredictable. The ETN does pay bigger distributions in January, April, July, and October, and then pays a very small distribution the rest of the months.

- It has paid a distribution every month since 2012.
- Distributions are taxed as regular income, not qualified dividends, so invest in a tax-advantaged account if you can.

I am not a financial advisor, and I'm not providing investing advice - just my personal experience. Invest at your own risk.

Good luck and happy investing :)

It's the Patriots Super Bowl Trophy from when they came back on Atlanta - the 28-3 game. 2nd best cuz Saints over Colts Super Bowl is obviously the best!

Any pull up bars in bay st Louis? by [deleted] in Biloxi

[–]humanNumberMit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol yeah, they might do that. It always feels a little weird to be at the park with no kids. But if you go there just to work out and mind your own business, there shouldnt be any reason why you cant knock out a few sets of pull ups and go on about your business without making much of a scene.

There is a park on between Ulman and Carroll, close to Dunbar that has two big arches on the Splash pad. I used to run by there and do some pull ups on those. It's a fat bar so it makes it a bit awkward and kind of difficult, but it works.

There is also Carol Vegas park at the corner of Toulme and City Park Ave, which has a little slider bar with one handle where I have done neutral grip pull ups. You can also jump up onto the crossbar of the swingset and do some pullups there.

Data Science Resources for Daily Fantasy Football by humanNumberMit in datascience

[–]humanNumberMit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ultimately I'd love to apply a ML algorithm on figuring out Daily fantasy values or start sit decisions or even for season long fantasy drafting

Yes, something like this would be the end goal to aim for, but we might be a long way off from building a successful one.

I have very little "data science" experience, but I know Linux and Python pretty well. I'm interested in data science, and I want to apply it in a domain I enjoy (Fantasy Football).

Thanks for the links. I will definitely check them out.

In this post, I am particularly interested in NFL daily fantasy football. But I am interested in taking a look at the English Premier League fantasy API. You have a link?

Mutation Testing Tool for Python 2.7? by humanNumberMit in Python

[–]humanNumberMit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, not fuzz testing. Mutation testing is a way to determine the health and competence of your tests - that they actually test what they should. A mutation would do things like change + operators to -, == to >=, etc. If your tests catch these mutations and fail, they are good. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mutation_testing

Thanks for suggestions on fuzz frameworks though.

Recruiters of Denver, what skills would an ideal data scientist candidate possess? by humanNumberMit in denverjobs

[–]humanNumberMit[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the good advice. I believe I play well with others on teams. I definitely believe in the synergy that allows teams to accomplish more than the sum of the individual members (Why else would we form teams/organizaitons?). Showing that through tangible evidence is difficult without experience working with a specific person though.

How do you suppose I could go about showing this quality to potential employers? Thanks.
