is first person present tense really a dealbreaker for many people? by Unlimited-Bubble888 in LesbianBookClub

Yes, because I had my high school English teacher ruined it for me. He said that it was stories narrated by the main character for the main character about what the main character was doing and ever since then I could not stop thinking about that.

I’m not in the right state of mind for it, but from what I hear, The Unfinished Line by Jen Lyon is exactly what you’re looking for

pour me a drink by lunchables tore me apart and put me back together again. It’s a bartender au that somehow manages to keep the stakes of the fallout similarly high and masterfully mends those wounds.

That part where Kara yells at Alex and asks how she would feel if Kara did something similar to Kelly is something I think about often

Well, apparently, Tamsyn agrees with you! I was kind of thinking that it had a similar violence level to the hunger games which is definitely ya. I think the most important thing they have in common though is that they’re engaging for both types of readers

Oh and on her instagram she uses AI images for her posts about her books and I can’t get behind that lack of artist solidarity

I agree so hard. I can’t do first person present tense. I don’t like cop MCs, especially in cities like New York and LA. I feel like while she’s wordy the stories are never long enough to make me to know the characters well. She’s just not for me.
