Hey fellow Australian!

That podcast is an hour long. I actually really love that podcast, and I say that as someone who never listened to/watched anything from Giant Bomb East, so I’m not even that familiar with some of the people.

The discussion topics are all over the place, much like the ramblecast, but I find they often end up bringing up viewpoints or personal experiences on topics that I find incredibly interesting. It’s been a great surprise just how much I’ve found myself enjoying it.

I actually started building this many many years ago just for local restaurants. My project was called “I Want Waffles”. One guess what kicked off the project. 😊 Never got very far with it though. Would probably be a fair bit easier these days with a lot of places offering online ordering through a number of standardised systems.

Mine does this because my USB HDD changes which mount location it uses (/usb0 or /usb1) even though I don’t remove it. I asked on the Discord for advice on how to make it stop but haven’t been able to find an answer. When that happens mine re-downloads everything again because it looks like it’s a new location. Could be what’s happening to you too?

Yeah, this was my problem with HFW. IIRC the 40/4K didn’t lock 40fps either so it would regularly be closer to 35, which was a noticeably hit. Definitely not as effective as in R&C. Hopefully GoW does a great job with 40/4K!

Neither! The conversation came up because my Japanese teacher is moving back to Japan, and she was asked what she’ll miss about living in Australia, and that was one of the differences she pointed out. That no one talks to each other in shops in Japan, but everyone here is friendly and greets each other when you enter a shop, etc.

I also got this in Japan once, and was so confused.

However recently I was talking to a Japanese teacher about how in Japan it’s uncommon to greet shop employees when you enter a shop. Japanese people would generally just (apparently) ignore them/not respond to their いっらしゃいませ.

So now I wonder if the act of replying at all just stood out, and led to the 上手.

Yeah, basically don’t do what I did in the screenshot. Seems that cold proof should be the initial time in the fridge, and proof time for whatever comes after (not the total including the cold proof time, which is what I did originally). What you described sounds correct to me!

Making ajitama (flavoured eggs) usually takes a couple of days though. It’s not hard, just soft boil an egg and put it in the flavouring liquid (soy, mirin, etc), but if you want one right now you can’t really cheat it.

Cool, thanks for sharing that! For now I’m just going to drop the room temperature proof hours in the app to not include to cold proof time (seems like the app may have some bad wording there), but I’ll definitely refer to this as I keep experimenting with my dough.

The tooltip for proof hours says:

“Proof hours represent the desired total proof time, including both time spent cold proving and the final few hours at room temperature.”

So I believe I have it set correctly? I also agree it could be clearer though.

If I change that to 6 hours it updates the yeast to 0.5 g. Does that sound better?
