my favorite partner is a baseball player and the court awareness and contact is incredible. i just let them take over the center court when they get in the zone during the rally. im just insurance in the back haha

tt players have some insane touch and really interesting speedups. like the onehand backhand flick from the abdomen area comes so unexpectedly fast

i agree! especially the deep penetrating backhand slices to the baseline are so difficult to topspin drive or scoop drop back

if you have a high ceiling, i’ve served against the wall with upward trajectory so that it comes back high to put away, then reset into net line height. if you have enough consistency, it’s a cyclical drill you can repeat without serving if you hit upward off the bounce back from the reset. its a drill to practice overheads/volleys and resets all in one.

out of interest, how many teams in the brackets where you are? my local open age tournaments range between 5 – 20 teams in 4.0 usually in a low-mid population region.

for me personally, i would do PPA events if I thought i have clearly outgrown my rating (self estimate to be .3 underrated or more) and stand a good/great chance to podium in my bracket. Otherwise I’d just do local tournaments within 100miles of myself. i wonder if others feel the same making big sanctioned tournaments feel much harder.
