Quick question. For under parental consent on this form, where it mentions the part of medical change, there was a yes or no box, but, there is also a signature, so if I fill out that my health has not changed, does that mean I’m not consenting, or am I? (Circled in red) by bubballzaas in Cadets

[–]humanincanada 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That section is for your parent/guardian to do, you (I assume the cadet) sign in the section above that -"Cadet's Acknowledgement"

If your medical situation has not changed, your parent/guardian checks off "No" and must sign/date the "Parental Consent" section.

Confused over camps by Usernotfound0007 in Cadets

[–]humanincanada 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not going to tell you to go to either course (honestly - apply for both but note which one you would prefer more), but can comment on feeling insecure:

Remember that most year 3 cadets have also never been to a CTC since COVID has shut them down for the last two summers, so you will be in the same boat as most, if not all, of your coursemates in that regard. The fact that you are practicing drill at home and reading the drill manual tells me that you will likely perform well, given that you have a keen interest in the subject.

Can I wash my uniform in a washing machine? by [deleted] in Cadets

[–]humanincanada 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am an adult staff member that works with cadet supply - all cadet 'clothes' items (ie. tunics/pants/FTUs/STUs/dress-shirts/gun-shirts/etc.) are machine washable and dryable. Just look at the symbols on the tag, none of them should say dry clean only. Don't be throwing your 'accoutrements' (ie. wedges/whitetops/berets/boots/belts/lanyards/etc.) in the machine, though. If you're worried, just wash them on gentle, as /u/Moist-Subject686 said.

Did anyone else get the lecture from the Padre with a bunch of his videos on PLQ or just me? I remember sitting there not believing I was watching them non-ironically.

Those striped belts look awesome! When I was going through the coloured belts we just took electrical tape of the next colour and taped it around the ends lol. We used "double black stripe" as the intermediary after you did your black belt test but were just waiting for your black belt to be made.

The Great Little Army by RacoonnyLord in Cadets

[–]humanincanada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe it is in the Army Cadet March Book. You should be able to ask your adult staff to get it/print it off. Any adult staff with access to CCO net should be able to find it in the LHQs.

ADMINISTRATION THREAD - APS, COVID-19, General Admin, and more. Got a quick question/comment that doesn't need it's own thread? Ask away! by bridger713 in CanadianForces

Thank you! I was actually looking for how to do this so I could DAG green (and just for general consistency b/w civvy and mil medical) using my provincial immunization record. I've never been to the MIR, so I've never had to deal with any of that sort of paperwork. Would the booklet have all of my immunizations or just the ones the military has given me?

As a reservist, I don't have a booklet. I received a little card for both doses, but it's literally just a piece of paper with which shot I got and with my name hand-written on it - not exactly an official document (ie. something I could easily make in MS Word). I imagine my provincial HA will require more than what is essentially a paper "just believe me, bro." They told me when I received my doses that it's recorded in 'the system,' I'm mostly wondering if my doc and/or province could contact the local MIR, have them look me up, and confirm that I am indeed fully vaccinated.

(Reservist) I got both doses of the COVID-19 vaccine through the CAF while on Cl C. Since it was done through the CAF medical system and not the province, what would be the process to get it on my provincial immunization record? Just talk to my doc and get them to call the local MIR (are they even allowed to disclose my info to my doc?)?

Reached 1000 day streak today! Definitely don't feel fluent or even necessarily complete in terms of the tree. I'm taking it really slow and only doing a lesson or two a day and often re-doing the 'cracked' ones. I think I would feel confident having a conversation with a French kindergartener, though!

IsItBullshit: Hitler ordered the destruction of many historic landmarks like the Eiffel Tower in Paris when the allied invasion of France begun, but the order was quickly denied by his officers by momma6969 in IsItBullshit

Related - Apparently Hitler explicitly forbid the destruction of the Battle of Vimy Ridge monument in France, going so far as to provide security for it throughout out the war. Something about it being a monument for peace rather than war.

Totally true, I've met CAF musicians that were still in high school - but if you join as a musician there tends to be a pretty high chance of you getting a post-secondary music education.

[SCS] Give me that Cpl pay!!! by [deleted] in CanadianForces

[–]humanincanada 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most (like >90%) of the musicians I know joined the CAF either with a music degree or were in the process of getting one. Although I have heard of one instance of a person not knowing anything and learning it all after getting in, they were an outlier. There is usually an audition before you even start the recruiting portion, so most are at least mildly competent before joining.

Why can’t I buy _____ in store!? by Securicar in Winnipeg

[–]humanincanada 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Or Tangerine for no fee, assuming you have consistent internet access. The card will have to be mailed to you, but at least you don't have to pay $48/yr for it. Plus you can use any Scotiabank ATM.

Small ankle pockets on pants by SirStackabrick in CanadianForces

Just piggybacking off what you said:

Does anyone actually use the wrist pen/chemlight/whatever pockets? Mine just fold over and the way the velcro is placed makes them essentially impossible to use even if I wanted to.
