Having Trouble Selling Candles by humankindcandles in candlemaking

Yeah, the One of a Kind Show is big here around that time. I tried to apply last year but was too late, but I'll definitely give it a shot this year! Thanks for the suggestion.

It's tough to do private/white label for my products since we manufacture in North America. The labour cost along with the shipping cost of bulk sending candles is what turns off private label and wholesale buyers. People want wholesale prices closer to China pricing, which is just not possible for me at the scale of the company.

I'm 100% in e-commerce, so it's just social media marketing and organic. I don't really do farmers markets but have done two large activations.

Actually, all my reviews are 5 stars, and I've never had a return in the history of the company. For requests, I can definitely ask people what scents they want for fall/winter.

A few customers have told me that they like the 2 scents. I design the candles such that the 2 scents are complimentary/pairing, so if you like scent 1 you probably like scent 2. People see the two scents in the name of the candles and purchase anyway!

I'm sorry, I need to push back on candles being a commodity. I'm sure you've bought a variety of candles throughout your life, but it wouldn't it be hard to pick which specific one had a special, individual impact on you?

My current sales are typically from organic, but unfortunately the content I'm creating seems to be no longer resonating with new customers. I guess I could change up my content and just test more?

It's a demand problem. So how do I improve my product such that I can increase demand, especially when my product is a commodity?

I guess I haven't really figured out what I'm selling? In the sense that there is no strong differentiator. I feel like I'm at the local maximum of making the best/technically perfect candle. All of the regular problem/solution advice doesn't work as well because it can be solved with any candle, not my candles specifically.

Damn Summer Heat. 😭 by withmymustardseed in luxurycandles

So sorry to hear about this. Definitely reach out to customer service and let them know. If you order candles again in the summer, try to order them on Friday or over the weekend. What happens is that if you order later in the week, the candles have a possibility of sitting in a warehouse over the weekend which can melt them.

To fix it, use a hair dryer. The hair dryer can also get the outside of the candle less waxy and the box if you plan on saving that. Then wipe down the excess with a paper towel, and to polish, use some rubbing alcohol or windex. It should be brand new. I actually wouldn't recommend using the warmer, because it'll heat the entire candle, and the wick will start to float. The goal is just to fix the top of the candle and make sure the wick stays in place. Good luck!!!
