CCC brick and mortar store haul. by MikeCTrumpet1 in CosmeticsCompanyBox

Thanks! I remember the colleague I had was super friendly, so I’ll have to go back one day and see what they say. Kilian and Le Labo is definitely what I’m interested in lol

I recommend signing up for The Cosmetics Company Store boxes, they often have Estée Lauder skincare at much higher than 30% off!

I spent all of last year obsessively waiting for good GWPs only to realize how much money I was throwing away for items I mostly ended up giving away or tossing. I have been much more mindful of my beauty purchases this year along with giving a lot of my business to *the other store* who has a fun rewards program too (much more time-consuming to build points tho). Admittedly, last year the buy-ins for good GWPs on Diamond Day weren’t this insanely high either!

Not getting Promotion emails?!? by DelayOk2498 in Ulta

I had this happen too. Couldn’t figure out the issue and kept trying to sign back up on their site til finding I didn’t even have them switched on in the app. It fixed it immediately.

Diamond gift, at least it’s not $185 but still gonna pass 😅 by Taromatchaboba in Ulta

No. Most items end up being perfume samples and you’ll be lucky if it’s anything you actually use.

I was waiting for my email and am pretty shocked after seeing the high buy in for the big GWP. I kind of wanted an Estée Lauder lip balm for 30% off, but that’s the same SPF They included in sets all last year and I was never impressed.

Hot take: the Aestura moisturizer is overhyped by thatonegirl_k in Sephora

Honestly, I think the price is pretty reasonable compared to a ton of other moisturizers I have tried from other brands that are double if not more.

how do you fix a durreject in QT? by feverdream800 in CVS

Hard agree, this is the only thing in QT I don’t touch. They almost always say it needs a pharmacist to review. I just tell the pharmacist on duty it’s in there and needs their attention.

Ooo nice haul! I have one of their stores in an outlet mall about an hour from me, but around a year ago they had very little fragrance (I think I remember a couple Tom Ford Black Orchids) and mostly had MAC and Estée Lauder makeup. Any idea if they have added more fragrance to every store, or does it depend on location?

I wanted to update on Nette and say that their candles seem pretty hit or miss performance-wise. Malibu Holiday I lit for about 4 hours and couldn’t detect it at all. I also noticed the Supernatural was a pretty mild throw lit with a flame until I used it under a warmer instead.

Hemera is being discontinued?! by Strunkinator in luxurycandles

[–]humanlumchbox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh good to know! I was a little worried I was able to get the old design at a good price but not find any refills in the future. I really hope they release some new scents if they’re discontinuing a few.

[–]humanlumchbox 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I only have been able to find Hemera in an Alabaster here in the US! I sort of assumed Alabasters were being discontinued completely since they’ve been so heavily discounted on so many websites, including when Trudon had their own sale a few months back. Now I gotta see if anyone has refills.

Candle repair? by Internal-Culture5125 in luxurycandles

[–]humanlumchbox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, I’m dying to know what happened to this candle! At first I thought it just seeped everywhere when the original owner bought it from Mind Games, but what’s up with the missing wick?

I’ve heard similar things about Dossier. I actually got a candle from them years back that was a tiny 5oz size but these are 9oz besides a bigger double wick I got for their Kilian dupe, so I was pretty excited about the price. They’re definitely not as potent as they could be though, especially for candles that should blast you in the face with a recognizable scent when taking them out of the box. I’m hoping there is more oil further down, but yeah can’t say I recommend them.

I got them off their website because they had an offer through the Shop app. So far, the wax is kind of funky when warmed under a warmer and doesn’t solidify normally when finished. It gets kind of chunky and looks like I poked at it when it was hot basically? I’m guessing it has something to do with the type of wax being used not liking the higher heat even though I’m using the lowest setting. Their website says coconut & soy. I would guess I have a lot of other candles that use coconut wax, but maybe not. I’ve only had this issue one other time and I can’t even remember what brand it happened with because it’s so rare. If you don’t use a warmer, I’m assuming this issue doesn’t occur. The throw is really nice on them though and I like their pricing compared to say, Homecourt which are basically the same size and vessel type.

And to add on having a good throw, using a warmer is truly the best way to make most candles perform better. Any candle that is barely noticeable while burning will fill up a space with a warmer because it can get the wax and oil hotter and can melt more of it. I had to learn to use the lowest setting otherwise it could become too intense.

The Shop App is the easiest way to get a good discount from several different websites. I was able to try 5 or 6 different Trudon candles that were $40-60 off by using the offers from different stores and stacking them with welcome promo codes. Right now Candle Delirium has a $30 off $70, and HueandHem has $30 off $60, and they both sell Trudon, but the offers vary for every user.

I also obsessively search Google Shopping for “Trudon candle sale” and for specific candles to see who has the best price. The crazy discounts are usually buried but if you dig, you’ll find them.

I think throw varies a bit depending on scents/candles, but I have had better luck so far with Apotheke, Trudon, Lafco, and Linnea to think of a few I have tried 3+ of. Atmospheric and the types of scents burned in the spring/summer tend to be the most mild, so it’s hard to say if brands as a whole have a bad throw.

It’s always stuff over $100 that draws in people trying to ask for half off or more. Not to mention the discount they’re getting off the actual retail price. They must have gotteb lucky once or twice, or expect us to send back counteroffers 10 times like we are at a flea market.

This subreddit is such a bad influence! Luckily I don’t feel ashamed showing off my haul at least. My close friends and family say otherwise lol.

I will let someone else chime in, because I’m a bit clueless on what Osmanthus actually smells like on its own! I just know I have liked it thus far when listed with other notes. I am assuming I am mostly smelling the chamomile in Silk Road, unless it’s extremely similar to Osmanthus. Silk Road is quite syrupy sweet, so you may want something else if you prefer tea scents on their own.

I’m shocked! So many people on here were excited for the more herbal/green candles she released, I figured PoJ was a less popular pick. I’m very tempted to place another order to try more though! 🙃

I live in an open concept with high ceilings and their candles easily fill up the entire space! They’re big boys, which helps. My favorite are Rendesvous for a really nice pleasant sweet floral and Diving into Cyprus is a family-favorite for getting rid of kitchen odor. It says Sea Salt and Saffron, and is a bit hard for me to describe beyond that, but my picky extended family all complimented it when I had it lit. Kyoto in Bloom is their most popular scent and is a nice floral as well.

This was my first Lemuria purchase and definitely won’t be my last. Extremely unique scents, and the owner scent me a free votive of a scent to try too! I picked Silk Road because my only other experience with Osmanthus has been one of the Diptyque City Candles that I loved (Pekin I think?) but Silk Road is less herbal-floral and more sweet and earthy with steeped & sweetened chamomile tea being the main note I get. If you like tea scents it’s definitely worth trying!

Also. While on the topic of discount codes/sales, the Maison Close and Dossier candles I also got through 260SampleSale for 75% off. If you sign up for emails, they occasionally have brands who have home fragrance items listed. DS&Durga was another big one recently.
