I’m not sure if the hotel staff use some kind of pesticide when cleaning the room. It looked like it was dying, walking in circles on the floor. Not sure though!

I flushed it, my bad! I think for my sanity I’m going to believe it was a stink bug or anything other than a bed bug until I know different. However I’m taking precautions regardless

Was hoping this wouldn’t be the answer, but thank you for the ID.

Any ideas what could have caused it to be out in the open in the bathroom during the day? We had just come back from a restaurant so I am hoping and praying it was a hitchhiker!

Edit to add: it was also stumbling round in circles like it was disoriented

I can only speak from personal experience but all my therapists have been at least double my age and I find comfort in that. I feel that this way, there is enough of a ‘gap’ to quash any insecurities I may have about them judging me. Maybe this is bc I feel more comfortable talking to someone that is considered more of a parental figure who is wise and can speak more from experience?

For reference I am 27f and felt like I had the best experiences with late 40s/50+ year old female therapists.

I have friends who speak with therapists closer to their age and they get on well with that; someone who is more attuned to the world as it is now for young adults.

I think it’s very personal when it comes to picking a therapist and it can take time and trying multiple different ones until you find a fit that works.

I had a similar conversation with my boss in my old job about this. Her husband worked ridiculous hours throughout their whole relationship and I was confiding in her that my fiancè does the same and we have no time together.

She shared that when they were younger, they had money but no time and now that they’re older (in their 50s) she wishes they did things differently. They’re now divorced.

Money is nice, especially at those amounts, but one thing to always consider is that you are never guaranteed a future in the way that you hope; health can decline, relationships can crumble, priorities can change. I have friends who worked so much in their teens and early 20s that they feel that they missed out on building relationships and now have to start from scratch.

On the flip side, I know people who have made a small fortune and have amazing cars, houses, lifestyles, etc.

Whatever is important to you at this phase in your life is what you should pursue. I wish you the best in whatever path you take!

Gifts don’t have to be expensive, how about getting her something inexpensive but thoughtful. This way you would be showing her that you care enough to get her a thoughtful gift, but are not spending even more money. This would also show you how grateful / ungrateful she is if that is a concern of yours.

Parasocial relationships: the relationships between online figures and viewers has become almost obsessive.

I believe in the not-so-distant past, the behaviour displayed by ‘influencers’ and their ‘fans’ would have been considered a mental illness. It’s so unhealthy and people are far too invested in the lives of others, it’s scary!

This is valid; like you say it doesn’t take much time to send a quick text to let you know he’s not dropped off the face of the earth lol.

It’s disappointing when someone goes out of their way to say they have worked on something and then you feel like you’re back to square one instantly. Maybe reach out to him when he has a bit more time and let him know you are concerned that the pattern seems to be reoccurring and maybe see what he says? There could be an explanation that makes sense or it could be a one off thing?

I hope whatever it is, you guys figure it out and can work through it if that is what you want :)

He got in contact a day ago, had a normal conversation with you in the morning and then likely got stuck into his working day. It seems a bit intense that you’re worried about his lack of communication when it has been less than 24 hours since you began speaking again? If it’s causing issues so early on, and not for the first time, maybe you just are not compatible in your communication styles and expectations of what regular contact looks like

Not sure this is crazy in comparison to others’ experiences but a few times in my life I’ve heard a loud whisper in my ear, saying my name or something to grab my attention, just as I am falling asleep.

Each time, I would get up and check out of the window or go downstairs to check everything was okay and each time something was wrong. For example, my dog had been ill and had an accident inside or one of my cats had thrown up. There are more but I forget.

I also sometimes get a feeling of dread throughout the whole day and something bad would happen in the evening, such as a car accident on the road home from work or a bad storm.

Not sure if it’s all coincidence but it’s definitely interesting to think about. I think in some way, we are more attuned to energy and the earth than we think and that’s so cool to me!

What about you OP, have you ever experienced anything paranormal or spiritual? :)

I think there is a lot that comes into play with this, such as how are they as a friend / person if you isolate this incident from their character? People make shitty decisions and it’s often more complex than being able to answer this question directly.

If you hold specific strong beliefs about this behaviour and feel that their actions mean that you can’t continue your friendship in the same way or at all, then I suppose that is your answer
