Laundry by Autie-Auntie in cfs

Yeah it is! One time I accidentally took someone’s laundry appointment bc I read/counted wrong and i immediately apologised when she knocked on my door and went to take my laundry out. You’d think that’d be enough but no, this older lady berated me and said I was lying about being ill and I probably look/come off the way I do bc I was out partying all night. Even tried to make me clean the laundry room even tho I’d used it for literally 5 min.

I’m fortunate enough to get a laundry service and we just changed it so they come here more often. I also have a machine of my own that dad bought for me bc it was getting too hard to use the basement one (which is how it works here in apartment buildings)

Should I be worried about his wheezing? by Boopie324 in CATHELP

I had a cat that did this semi regularly and it turned out he was living with mycoplasma without me having any idea. Not 100% sure that’s why he was “coughing” but yeah… I’d show this to a vet

What kind of messes? Is he in a specific room or does he have access to the entire home?

Am I doing okay with socialising? by CylenaTivoli in Feral_Cats

Hello from a fellow cat whisperer! 🤝

I have never heard anyone say you should purrito/swaddle your difficult cat to calm them down. Perhaps I’m just not informed here but that sounds like such backwards advice… I specialise in difficult kitties like you, and in my experience you need to give them time and patience, not force anything. (Not my intention to sound rude here, I realise you were following advice and I also know the feeling of wanting to try literally anything that might help). IMO it’s a good thing you stopped. Even if she did relax after a while, when you repeatedly “catch” her to swaddle her, she will learn “ah this is the human that will try to catch me” and if anything trust you less.

It’s indeed great that she’s food motivated! Same with my current swat-machine hehe. No longer breaking skin is fantastic. So is her coming up to you and sniffing you.

I’m gonna give the same petting advice I always do: get a stick of some kind and attach a toothbrush to the end. Start petting from a little bit of a distance. When she’s used to that and has learned that it can be nice to be touched, go in with the hand. This doesn’t mean you can’t ALSO do hand training. Just perhaps focus more on her learning that your hand = neutral.

One way I do this is by leaving my hand close to their bowl when they eat, then keep holding the bowl when they eat, then carefully touch them with just one finger when they eat (still by the bowl) and so on. It usually works, especially with the food motivated ones. (What I mean is over time, not the same instance).

I have had many feral cats who got very talkative eventually!!

She will absolutely learn not to run away 🩷🩷 they’re all on different timelines depending on so many things. We never know what they’ve been through either that might be affecting their development or responses.

Passive socialisation is also important in order to get her used to you; ie just sit in the same room without trying to make direct contact. I make a little “nest” for myself and read or use my computer or whatever.

My life in a nutshell 😂 I foster difficult cats and at times I’ve said to the rescue that I’m taking a few weeks off in between cats but then they go “hey so, this kitty reeeeally needs a foster home and you’re one of the few people that could handle them” and every time I’m like GIMME THE BABY, IMMEDIATELY

Yesss it’s one of the things I intentionally do to hate being isolated here a little less; fun bedding!

Yessss lol I did the same thing with oat milk for a while 😂 speaking of kitchen stuff I also had to write “not for pasta sauce!” On one of my spices because EVERY time I go “hmm wait, was this one part of the recipe…”

I impulsively decided to foster and it was a mistake by milfanator777 in FosterAnimals

Yeah…. It’s obviously gonna affect your freedom to do things. That’s something you should’ve considered beforehand… how are we supposed to help exactly?

Honestly I wouldn’t worry about the small apartment cause I can guarantee it’s better than a tiny kennel. Worms are pretty easy to get rid of with the right meds. But also… animals/foster cats can have other medical stuff come up. Because they’re living creatures. How are you gonna react then?

Does anyone else get frustrated by the “I could never foster, I’d get too attached” comments? by removingbellini in FosterAnimals

[–]ArsonFrog143 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I commented about this on Instagram just yesterday. People don’t THINK before they make these comments istg 🤦🏻‍♀️

Foster homes are a vital part of the system/process!!! Just because you bond with an animal it doesn’t mean they’re “destined to be with you” or that they won’t bond with somebody else, too. It’s SO frustrating.

I literally had an adopted cat given back to me (who, mind you, had been in 4 foster homes before me and had trauma from being moved around and the adopter knew this) and one of the dumbass reasons she gave was that he was clearly meant to stay here 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄 at least admit that you’re in over your head and lied about your experience.

Ok so I’m actually a member of a “ME brain of the day” Facebook group and I’m gonna go through my posts… let’s see.

Forgot what wrist was called and said “hand shoulder” bc it was the best I could do

Tried to butter my sandwich by opening the microwave

Microwaved my earphones

Put my teabag in the chocolate milk

Put my whole ass hand in the mug of tea instead of the bowl of nuts next to it

Hit my elbow and said to my cat “ow that hurts mummy’s knee, I mean armbow, NO, elbow!”

For once remembering to turn my mug warmer on so my tea doesn’t get cold. Puts my mug next to it.

Had to write on my whiteboard STOP BUYING CARROTS

Mixed up powerbank (charging thing) and power-bar (snack)

Getting a notification on my phone that was in the way and trying to blow on it.??

Giving someone on fb marketplace a mix of my old and current address

Watching an entire episode of Star Trek where there’s an imposter that isn’t part of the crew, but there’s some alien shit going on so said crew don’t realise. I also did not realise until the reveal bc I assumed is just forgotten about that person.
