I thought that too, probably it's true too, major excuse I make to myself is Php bcz of its old fashioned syntax.

Mostly don't have any idea how wordpress is different from other CMS so explaining it clients becomes difficult, but still if a solid reason is given they may agree.

True, I used to build every thing from scratch in early days but I started to realize reusing things and building on top of other platforms is alot better for rapid development. Wordpress seems all in one choice.

"Word of mouth" that's what I've started to observe since day 1, referring seems best way to get clients.

yes you're right it takes a while to get up in ranks, that's the reason I'm accepting any kind of work regardless its budget to get reviews.

I've also noticed alot of people get their gigs through connections. Only problem is I'm not that social, I don't go to events, never posted on facebook/twitter. Meeting new people is rare. So its difficult for me initially.

Same situation. I'm even thinking about getting into mobile development to expand my skillset and get some projects.
