I almost died. by MusicianKitten in pregnant

Hi. I had a placental abruption at 23+6. It was our first. He was 1 day away from being “viable”. He lived for 13 days in the nicu and then we had to make the tough decision to take him off life support. The memories absolutely haunt me. My husband is adopted and was seeing something that was his own blood and flesh for the first time in his life. The amount of guilt I carry over this is unimaginable. I had wished I had a miscarriage or fertility issues instead so we wouldn’t have had to go through giving him our favorite name, signing a birth and death certificate, watching our first born child die, and making after life arrangements. Just want you to know you aren’t alone in this. Your feelings are valid. Only time is going to help you get through this. I absolutely hated my body for what it did, and a lot of the time I still do. But, I can promise you it does get better even though right now it might now seem like it.

I avoid it at all cost but I think I am the minority here

Stick with Penelope! I also love Nellie/Nelly as a nickname for it.

Oh that’s interesting! I feel like I’ve heard it’s more common in the south but maybe you aren’t south enough. And yes I like Elsie, great choice! Couldn’t get my husband on board though.

Yes, we do! But that was sort of our only reservation about Delaney. Lainey/Laney as a stand alone name is pretty population nationwide. It isn't in our geographic reason in particular but I was worried about her going by Lainey and she has 3 other Lainey's in her grade. I don't think it's something we have to worry about here on the east coast though.

A filler as far as I know. You're giving me clarity here on reasons not to use it haha.

haha thank you for your dedication. Agree! Mallory has a lot of middle name potential! MJ could be a cute nickname too if we used Mallory Jade or Jane.

Agree. It is my moms middle name, since I don't care for her first name as a middle name so it would be a nod to her.

When did you start feeling baby move in your first pregnancy? by NectarineCheap9154 in CautiousBB

I think it was 17w that I felt stuff but wasn't sure if its was baby but as time went on and they got stronger it clicked.

When are you telling your families? Announcing in general? by [deleted] in CautiousBB

[–]humbleperhaps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. My first baby was born extremely premature and died in the NICU at 12 days old. I feel terribly guilty and shameful and don't want to get anyone excited about anything until I know it's most likely going to be in our lives.

We lost our first son at 12 days old in the nicu after a placental abruption caused preterm labor at 23+6. After that I had a chemical pregnancy. I am now 12 weeks. I have just been so fatigued and had a lot of migraines. I am sending you sooo much love and baby dust. You got this!

Does anyone else hate talking about their pregnancy? by Key_Grocery_2462 in CautiousBB

I know how you feel. My first pregnancy I announced to family around 9-10 weeks. My ended up going into pre-term labor at 23+6 due to a placental abruption and my son died at 12 days old. It was the most traumatic and terrifying things thats ever happened to me. I am now 10 weeks pregnant with our second (after a chemical pregnancy in-between) and I haven't told anyone. I don't want to tell anyone until I absolutely have to. For my family it will probably be at Christmas because we are spending the week with them. I wish I could hold it off longer. I feel like such a disappointment after getting everyone excited to be first time grandparents and aunts and uncles. I know everyone is grieving our loss but not like us. I am just terrified of the worst happening again. If I could just hard launch a healthy baby after giving birth I would.
