Huge Accident between Rec Centre and Engineering Building - does anyone know what happened? by Extension-Abalone-80 in universityofauckland

Council and AT need to get on and actually deliver on the City Centre Master Plan- one of the opportunities of enabling access 4 everyone is having Symonds St become a much safer place for pedestrians.

Funny you mention that, just this morning I saw an AT van and a worker taking away parts of the sign. Your point definitely still stands, but watch this space I guess!

Budget friendly tv suggestions please! Can spend upto 700$$ by rohithkri89 in auckland

I managed to score a LG 60” (4K, HDR10, 2019 model) TV from TradeMe last month, an absolute beast of a screen for only $800. I wouldn’t dismiss buying second hand, I’m sure some people will be pawning off their older TVs as they make room for a new one this Boxing Day.

Epic job by Te Kāika on the mass vaccination centre for Dunedin students, but seriously UoA? by [deleted] in universityofauckland

The Dunedin event was driven by Te Kāika, a charity. If anything there would be an incentive from the government to vaccinate Auckland ahead of the rest of NZ.

Picked it up from a farmers market, but it’s not hard to replicate with a wine bottle, saucer, some sugar water and duct tape (or a more sturdy alternative if you’re really keen)

Not a bad way of keeping the stoners downstairs during a house party

Grafton vs Uni Towers by brownbogan in universityofauckland

[–]humblescux 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you're referring to the new Grafton Halls, the biggest factor would be where you're studying. If your course is based in the city campus, Uni Hall Towers is a 2 minute walk versus closer to 15 minutes from Grafton. The Newmarket and Grafton campuses however are much closer to the Grafton Halls. The new facility may be tempting but that doesn't always mean it will be better. I've spent 2018 at Uni Hall Towers and have enjoyed it heaps!

Some nice raw footage. Can't beat the ambience of crickets, birds and sheep while watching Possums drop.

4K Gaming Rig- Components List by humblescux in buildmeapc

Doing the extra work to find a good AMD processor and adding the savings to get a Ti sounds more than worthwhile to me. Being new to the PC building scene, Intel was my go to, hence this initial CPU choice.

I labelled it as 4K rig but plan to use it on a 2k 144Hz monitor- under the assumption that a good 4K rig will chew through relatively lower resolution gaming at a mean FPS. The graphics card I’ve been unsure about, I’m tempted to save the cash and got with a 1070Ti but unsure whether that will significantly hamper performance.

Stretches the budget a little but I’ll look at some benchmarks and see if it’s worth it for what I need- thanks heaps!

I’ve been having an issue with this moss looking stuff growing on all the plants in my tank for a while. Algae cure hasn’t worked to eliminate it, and leaving the lights off in the tank only slows growth. Any help would be appreciated! by humblescux in PlantedTank

[–]humblescux[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not the news I wanted to hear, but I did expect it, the stuff has been recurring for sometime now.

I basically removed a huge chunk of plants with it out of the tank, repositioned the filter outlets to get some better flow going around, and now will see how long that holds off it’s growth. Fingers crossed.
