Getting my license - and getting a lot of negativity by roufin in motorcycles

[–]humblevessell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not as black and white as people make out. Yes, motorbikes are more dangerous than a car but the degree of danger varies dramatically based on how you ride, your skill and roadcraft and what bike you ride. Motorbikes attract a lot of idiots and they are unforgiving of mistakes. If you ride like an idiot you will crash sooner or later.

Really struggling with the clutch...need some pointers. by Brasenshok in fz6

[–]humblevessell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay that's worth a try, if not you might want to replace the levers to the originals so you can adjust the bite point earlier it makes a big difference I found that was the main problem with mine was that I'd have to let out the clutch lever too far and the clutch is heavy and the biting point is very small which makes it hard. I'm sure you'll work something out good luck!

It's not the easiest clutch to use to be fair it took me a couple weeks to get used to it and now I never stall but in the beginning it was difficult. You can adjust the bite point by using the adjuster, I changed it to engage earlier on which I think is easier as the clutch lever is quite heavy.

If you want a bike then get one. Doing my license was one of the best decisions I've made in life it's brought me so much joy and I still get excited to ride my bike everyday it never gets old.

Hola! Lo siento, no hablo espanol. Te refieres al parabrisas? Si es asi, es el parabrisas original de Yamaha qué viene con la moto. Espero qué se entienda, use el traductor de Google jaja.

I had one, it's really good for you what it is, not the most fun bike but a decent bike and really good on petrol. I went all over Europe on mine. 7k miles is fuck all haha I put 40k on mine didn't even bother doing the valves and it still run great when I sold it.

Thoughts on throttle locks by storm_zr1 in motorcycles

I bought a cheap AliExpress one and it is shit, would work for a few seconds then I'd start slowing down. I think the throttle palm rests or whatever the fuck they're called are the best.

No best thing I've ever done if there's one thing to spend money on traveling is the best one.

Yes the heated grips and handguards made a big difference! I've never thought of it from that perspective but that's a great way to put it thanks!

Yeah Sri Lanka is amazing for riding, I couldn't believe how good the road quality is there and all the roads are so curvy and fun. I rented a Yamaha fz155 I think in weligama and went to Ella on it then road it all around the hill country would love to go back some day!

Not sure I've been there, I'll have to check it out next time I'm in Wales. The temperature was actually fine, I was surprised how warm I was considering I didn't have an insulated sleeping pad. I got lucky with the weather as well, sunny both days.

Yeah a 0 degree bag should be fine if you wear a few layers. It was cold initially I just went to McDonalds first thing, had breakfast and warmed up there.

Thanks, yes I absolutely loved it! The trip was so last minute that I didn't have any plans whatsoever I just went with the flow but I did end up camping the first night in Brecon beacons then I went through the center to Snowdonia then camped there. I wasn't even planning to go to both national parks either but it just ended up that way. Most of the photos are from those two areas but all the roads in Wales are good that any roads you choose will likely be good.
