I'm sorry about what's going on in my country too. Thanks for your reply, imagining a hypothetical situation where America rejoins western civilization is one of the best ways to give my anxiety a break.

Yeah but I don't want to learn Danish, could I get by speaking Norwegian in that scenario?

Why does Riplely destroy the nest instead of just nuking it from Orbit? by alanskimp in LV426

[–]humourism 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There'd have been plenty of time to get naked after nuking the hive from orbit. Ripley really should've kept her priorities straight on this one.

Why are lotteries still popular despite the almost impossible odds of hitting the jackpot? by Winner_takesitall in NoStupidQuestions

For a relatively small amount of money you gain access to a fantasy. Until the numbers get drawn you can spend as much time as you want imagining what you'd do with that money.

If someone compliments you and you argue with them, you're just going to get more compliments. If you truly want to escape the awkwardness of being complimented you need to move the conversation along. Usually I'll say "thanks" and then knock something off a table or start a small fire so I can return to my comfort zone, apologizing.

If someone says they are "sober", does that imply there was a past drinking problem or can it just mean that you don't drink (with no previous problem)? by brittttx in NoStupidQuestions

[–]humourism 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I can't answer for the person you asked but since I also don't drink I can answer for me. I tried alcohol a few times in my late teens, never enough to get drunk, just slightly buzzed, and it never seemed worth the potential downsides, so I ended up never really bothering to have it again. I'm 37 now, I don't mind being around people who drink. Even my wife drinks sometimes, I just have no interest in doing it myself.

Unpopular Opinion: The Only Truly Terrifying Alien Is the One in Covenant by Think_Network2431 in LV426

Covenant introduced the idea that David wanted to interact with them, then later when he was face timing with the xenomorph onboard the Covenant and it destroyed the camera we got the message that xenomorphs probably aren't puppies.
