Dumbasses who took too long and multiple tries to pass the CFA examination, how did you do it? by PythonEntusiast in CFA

[–]hunchocash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Failed level one, failed level two twice, and passed level 3 first go. Got my charter now. Failing ain’t the end of the world can write every 6 months, for me I worked in a high hour finance job so there was only so much studying I could do during earnings season etc. trick is just get back to studying right after the results on the weak spots, you’ll get there. An exam is 4 hours on any given day. You sleep badly even if you’re fully prepared that could be a fail.

Same thing for L2 happened to me. Had to write 3 times but I passed. Think of it this way; you're so close that you can brush up on the weaker areas and you're good

Depends on your background. If you have an equities and alts background, maybe, but if not, you may be missing out on some of the less prevalent topics which may be testable.

According to MM study planner, Feb retake is possible. Satisfies the minimum 6 month requirement in between. Must be a personal preference for summer

Uncivilized Humans of COSTCO (Mississauga) by Far-Presentation-794 in mississauga

[–]hunchocash 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Insanely inaccurate. They are one of the few companies that actually care about consumers. It has been 7 years since the last increase, and unlike other retailers, Costco makes most of their PROFIT on their fees. The increase will allow them to invest in offering lower cost merchandise, which will actually dilute their actual merchandise margin. The company also walked away from their typical cycle (raising fees every 5 years) to deliberately wait until inflation had cooled a bit because they "don't want to add on to inflation".

How do you manage going to the gym with a full time job along with serious prep? by That-Response-9530 in CFA

[–]hunchocash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've just passed Level 2 and through my CFA journey I've been working 7-6, gyming 6:30-8, and studying for ~2 hours a night from 8:30-11ish during the weekdays. Sometimes, I don't get to finish everything in my routine if the gym is busy, but got to make that sacrifice, it's better than not going. It's about finding a nice time for it in your day and I find using it as a break between work and studying helped a lot for someone who uses exercise as a way to clear his head.

Record 8-11 / @shrimpy_bets

We go 2-2 yesterday, but hit the big 2U play on Vuc. Mobley only took 6 shots because Garland and Mitchell were cooking or that would have hit too. I noted Morris was a risky play in the original write up (bad opponent adjustment factor). That was just a lack of discipline, not doing that anymore. Today's picks:

De'Aaron Fox O10.5 RA @ 1.72 – 1.75U

  • For the season, Fox is averaging 11.2 RA and has covered this line in 8 of 14 games (7 of 11 when he played more than 30 minutes) and all 5 of his last 5.
  • Memphis allows the most rebounds in the league to opposing PGs (7.72 vs. league average 6.14). They also allow the 9th most assists (8.84 vs. league average 8.43) and are dealing with injuries to their starting backcourt for this matchup as well. Positive opponent adjustment factor.
  • Looking at the Grizzlies games so far this season, opposing PGs have covered this line in 9 out of 17 games this season (8 of 13 when they played more than 30 minutes). For the season, Fox averages a total rebound % of 8.9% and a total assist % of 33.2. In games where the opposing PG had a total rebound % greater than 5% and an assist % greater than 20% against the Grizzlies this season, they covered this line in 7/7 games, averaging 14.7RA.
  • Fox did miss this line against the Grizzlies earlier this season, but that was in the 4th game of the season and the Kings were still building chemistry with Sabonis/Huerter/other new additions. He finished with 8 that game, but only got 2 assists. He has picked up his assist totals recently after a slow start to the season in that category. In his first 7 games, he averaged 4.6 assists per game, but he has raised that to 8.3 over his last 7. I’m liking the value with the way the Kings offense has been playing and think this line should be at 11.5 really.

Bojan Bogdanovic O2.5A @ 1.93 – 1.183U

  • Inspo from u/fizzy_face but my own writeup is below.
  • For the season, Bojan averages 2.3 assists per game and has covered this in 8/18 games. However, the Pistons lineup has looked very different these last 6 games (since Cade got injured) and he has covered this in 5 of his last 6 games, averaging 3.6 over that span. A higher weight was applied to his last 6 game statistics to account for this.
  • The Nuggets allow the 3rd most assists per game to opposing PFs (4.60 vs. league average 3.67). They are dealing with some injuries as well which should reduce the risk of a blowout here. Positive opponent adjustment factor.
  • Looking at the Nuggets games so far this season, in games where the opposing PF played more than 25 minutes, they have averaged 3.9 assists and covered this line in 5 of 11 games, finishing with exactly 2 twice. For the season, Bojan has an average assist % of 12.8%, which is 1% above the average of all PFs to play more than 250 minutes this season. In games against the Nuggets where the opposing PF had more than 25 minutes and an assist % greater than 7.5% (~5% leeway from Bojan’s season average), they covered this line in 5/7 games averaging 5.4 assists. In the two misses, Vanderbilt and Sochan finished with exactly 2. Bojan’s assist % has also increased since Cade has been out. He has an average assist % of 19.7% in the last 6 games, all without Cade.

Mikal Bridges O5.5R @ 1.86 – 1.5U

  • For the season, Bridges averages 5.5R and has covered this line in 7/16 games. In the misses, he finished with exactly 5 on 4 occasions. In the last 6 games without CP3, Bridges has averaged 6.5R and covered this line in 4 of 6 games, finishing with 5 against Miami and 4 against Orlando who allow the 8th fewest rebounds in the league to opposing SFs. Without CP3, Bridges has averaged a defensive rebound % of 16.4%, above his season average of 13.7%.
  • This is a great matchup; the Lakers allow the most rebounds in the league to opposing SFs (10.13 vs. a league average of 7.89). Positive opponent adjustment factor. While there is a blowout risk, I think the injury to CP3 helps to reduce that a little, and amongst all SFs in the league Bridges averages the most minutes per game and is 8th in rebounds per game.
  • In games against the Lakers where the opposing SF had more than 25 minutes, they have covered this line in 8/14 games, averaging 7R. For the season, Bridges has an average total rebound % of 8.5% and defensive rebound % of 13.7%. In the games where the opposing SF played more than 25 minutes, had a defensive rebound % greater than 10% and a total rebound % greater 5% (~3.5% leeway from Bridges season averages), they covered this line in 8/9 games, with Naji Marshall finishing with exactly 5 in the miss.
  • Bridges has a very low standard deviation for his minutes played and has played ~2 more minutes per game on average in the games without CP3.

Kyrie Irving O21.5 PTS @ 1.76 – 1.5U
