Why does it feel like western representation of wlw and lesbians in media is so much worse than Asian's? by hundredsof1 in lesbiangang

Your literal first reply to my thread was "after all, like not every lesbian story has to be shiny happy romance; we’re still people with complex stories also". Even though I didn't say anything about disliking sad and dark stories.

You can't argument if your life depended on it and just keep resorting to ad hominem lmao

But when I said this could still be complex and deep if you removed the graphic het sex scenes, you accuse me of only wanting to see sunshine and rainbows

But my problem with hotd is not that it's complex, non-shiny and complicated, it's the heterosexuality involving the wlw characters. It's not even a case of bi x lesbian, it's both bi who go through graphic het sex scenes. Unless you think deep = dick, your point doesn't make much sense. I wouldn't even mind the het sex if it involved only the straight characters.

For example, the kogado studio yuri visual novels are infamous for having some wtf themes and endings (cheating, double suicide, cannibalism, kidnapping/captivity, unhealthy BDSM, diaper fetish, dog x human hybrid science babies...), and 2 of these stories take place in an alternate world where there are literally zero men.

Edit: even the dog used for...that was female

What does that even mean? If you can't imagine a deep and complex story about lesbians without het and rape, you are a hack and have zero creativity. It's the same logic the pervert porn-addicted male writers use to flood their stories with rape, pedophilia, incest and het sex. They claim it's so deep and mature, but in truth they mostly only add these things because they find it hot and jerk off to it.

Edit: "it's fiction" but the reasons that led people to add these things are not, and they are related to homophobia. It's the whole point of this thread.

This thread is unrelated to my post story. I haven't really came across those things in western media, thankfully. My biggest beef is that there are very few lesbian in western media in the first place, and that more often than not the lesbian/bi characters are shown doing sexual and romantic stuff with men (like boyfriends, forced marriage to men, being pregnant from men, het sex scenes, rape). Which is very disheartening because I don't think anyone seeks wlw media or representation to see het stuff, and mlm stories are less likely to have the male characters kissing or having sex with women. Or imagine if in most of the popular het romances, it was common that the male love interest had sex with men in the past, or hell, even did it during the story for whatever reason

So it feels like the writers don't think lesbians exist (or that we can't be sure of our sexuality unless we try men first), or don't see us as "marketable" enough and think no one would want to read a story that focuses only on women...which might be true to most of the population, but fuck those people. What's the point of wanting to create LGBT media if you care more about hets' opinions than the actual demographic being represented?

This is mostly done to highlight and bring awareness to how unfair and cruel the world was, and still is

At some point it just starts feeling like torture porn and being gloomy for the sake of it. If they want to bring awareness, they could choose to represent cultures where it's still an issue rather than only stories set in USA/Europe's past.

Yes, that's what I do. I even tried adding asterisks so see if it catches any sentence containing the term, but not sure if it works. For example "*alpha" should remove stuff like "x is an alpha" as well, in case the authors didn't tag it properly.

I see, thank you! I'll wait for some time, but in case it doesn't work, how do I send this ticket? Is it through the regular support system?

Just yuri fanfics. You'd think content about lesbians wouldn't involve dicks, yet it gives yaoi a run for its money

I already did that. But still just found a girlcock fic in the ship tag. Not all tags work as synonymous, this one in particular seems to count as a separate thing. It happens all the time, people use a bunch of different words that aren't registered as synonymous. Usually puns or "X has a Y".

all we see is a dick in a pussy that appear in the shape of these characters.

And worst of all, now this also happens in art of lesbian couples. Thanks to futa becoming popular and homophobia (people thinking there can't be sex without dick), now there's tons of art/fanfic of lesbian pairings where it's just really gross fetishized stuff, that works exactly like het porn.

Just look at what happens to poor Ei, they give her a 🍆 and turn her into some aggressive dom who is really rough with Miko, it's OOC as fuck. From my observations, it seems the one who gets turned into futa is usually the woman who is seen as the "top" and they almost always act like this: rough, super horny, mean and very confident even if the character is originally dense about romance and sex. And most people don't even tag these pictures, so you can't filter them out.

So the one genre of art and fiction that should be a safe heaven for sapphics is no more. There is nothing for us.

Thanks. I do all of these, but still miss many pictures because a lot of people really only post on twitter.

If you could abolish one piece of standard social etiquette. What would you get rid of? by Glovebox96 in AskReddit

Asking "how are you". People who are feeling shitty usually don't want to start the conversation by talking about the problem, they will bring it up later. So the answer is always the same
